Grace Martin Hess, 84, formerly of 210 York Ave., died Monday (Dec. 11, 2006) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after a period of declining health.

Born Sept. 25, 1922, in Davie County, Mrs. Hess was a daughter of the late Bonner Elijah and Ella Rosa Creason Martin.

A resident of the area since 1947, she retired after working 47 years in the Cannon Mills Plant 1 and Plant 4 Spinning Room and Overhauling Department.

She was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church.

Her husband of 51 years, Arthur Lee Hess, died in 1993.

Survivors include sister Dorothy M. Gudger, Salisbury.

Services: 1 p.m. today (Dec. 13, 2006), Whitley’s Funeral Home. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.

Visitation: 12-1 p.m. today at the funeral home.
