Betty Jean Daniel

CONCORD — Betty Jean Riddle Daniel, 76, 3700 Taylor Glen Lane, died Saturday (Dec. 2, 2006) at Taylor Glen’s Health Center after two months of declining health.

Born April 9, 1930, in Kannapolis, Mrs. Daniel was a daughter of the late William Homer “W.H.” and Fannie Johnson Riddle.

She graduated from Cannon High School in 1948, Mars Hill College in 1950 and Wake Forest College in 1952 and taught in the public schools in the region for years. She spent her last 10 years teaching at Corriher-Lipe Middle School, Landis.

As a pastor’s wife, she was active in many church activities, especially music. Most recently, she led the Vespers music at Taylor Glen.

Survivors include husband Edward H. Daniel; son James E. Daniel, Charlotte; brothers C.D. “Buck” and John Riddle, both of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.

A service was held Monday (Dec. 4, 2006) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Steven Ayers. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park mausoleum, China Grove.
