Coach Ron Massey confirmed Monday that A.L. Brown quarterback Jamill Lott has been added to the Shrine Bowl roster.

Lott and South Point quarterback Desmond Lowery are apparently replacing Davie DB Perry James (hand) and Jack Britt QB Everett Proctor.

Lott will likely be used as a defensive back, his probable college position, by the N.C. squad.

Lott rushed for 1,065 yards, threw for 1,939 yards and had a punt return for a TD as a senior. He accounted for 37 touchdowns.

Lott will the first Wonder to play in the game since linebacker Quantres Grant in 2005. He reported to the team yesterday.

The annual Shrine Bowl Game will be played in Spartanburg, S.C., at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

- All-NPC football

West Rowan running back K.P. Parks and Mooresville back Jjshaun Pinkston, two of the state's elite rushers, shared NPC Offensive Player of the Year honors for football.

West defensive end Chris Smith was named NPC Defensive Player of the Year.

West's Scott Young was the NPC Coach of the Year.

West's Jon Crucitti was named NPC Punter of the Year.

State champ West also placed defensive linemen Kenderic Dunlap and Eli Goodson, linebacker Nate Dulin, safeties Marco Gupton and Austin Greenwood, receiver Brantley Horton and offensive linemen Timmy Pangburn and Joseph Kerley on the All-NPC team.

South Rowan quarterback Blake Houston, linebacker Reid Shaver, running back D'Andre Harris, defensive back Quan Glaspy and defensive end Cadarreus Mason made the All-NPC team.

Carson receiver Daniel Yates made the team, along with linebacker John Mullis.

East was represented by receiver/safety Ben DeCelle.

- All-NPC soccer

West Rowan's Sharif Behrooz and Carson's Valentin Nava were named to the All-NPC boys soccer team.

- All-NPC volleyball

South Rowan's Jan Dowling was named NPC Coach of the Year for volleyball. Dowling led South to a 13-5 conference record and a tie for second place.

South's Taylor May, Krista Haywood and Kayla Morrow made the All-NPC team.

Carson was represented on the All-NPC squad by Sarah Marshall.

- All-NPC tennis

East Rowan's Hannah Kovach, Emily Beck, Brittany Honeycutt and Emilee Smith, South Rowan's Leslie Freeze and West Rowan's Maggie Daniel were named to the All-NPC girls tennis team.

- All-NPC golf

West Rowan's Katie Knepp and Alex Mills, South Rowan's Desirae Overcash and East Rowan's Samantha Haviland earned spots on the All-NPC girls golf team.

Lake Norman's Hayley Hammond picked up NPC Player of the Year honors.

- All-NPC cross country

East Rowan's Ross Oden, Cole Honeycutt and Eli Walton, Carson's Ethan Horne and South Rowan's Michael York and Tyler Kowalczyk earned spots on the All-NPC boys cross country team.

Runner of the Year was Mooresville's Joseph Newman.

* West Rowan's Leslie Pence and South Rowan's Emily Kinney made the All-NPC girls cross country team.

Runner of the Year was Lake Norman's Jenny Gallagher.

- Turnbull steps down

Catawba's Craig Turnbull has stepped down as men's soccer coach and will be promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations and Director of NCAA Compliance.

John Cullen, already Catawba women' soccer coach, has accepted the men's position and will pilot both teams.

"Craig has served Catawba very well as soccer coach for 11 years, as his teams won three championships and graduated on time," Catawba AD Dennis Davidson said. "Now, I am confident that he will do equally good work in our athletic administration, in a position that we have needed for quite some time. NCAA compliance work seems to get more complicated each year."

Turnbull guided Catawba teams to 114 wins. His teams won a regular-season championship and two SAC tourney championships. Turnbull guided the program to its first ever NCAA tournament appearance in 2004 and repeated in 2005 and 2006.

Cullen recently completed his eighth year as women's coach.

He has a 113-33-16 mark, guiding teams to four 16-win seasons.

He's coached the Catawba women to two league titles, three tournament championships and four regional appearances.

- Indoor track

North Rowan's girls placed second out of 24 teams in the Wally Gilbert Invitational held at Heritage High in Lynchburg, Va.

Teaunna Cuthbertson won the long jump (16 feet, 3 inches) and the 60 hurdles (8.75 seconds) and was seventh in the triple jump (31-6).Diricka Mitchell was second in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet.

Cuthbertson and Mitchell have qualified for the state meet.

Ja' Lesa Stalling was fourth in the long jump (14-9) and fifth in the triple jump (32-1/2).

Titiana Banks was fourth in the 300 (41.03) and fourth in the 600 (1:38.92).

Corbin Bennett was sixth in the 55 meters in 7.91.

Banks, Bennett, Akevia Charleston and Laijia Robinson finished fourth in the 4x400 relay in 4:37.30.

Cuthbertson, Banks, Bennett and Charleston placed third in the 4x220 relay in 1:59.48.

* The North Rowan boys finished third overall.

Johnny Ray Oglesby won the long jump (19-4) and triple jump (41-4) and was sixth in the high jump (5-4).

Haustin Walser won the pole vault (11-0). Jesse Brown was second in the pole vault (10-0).

Titus King was fourth in the 60 hurdles (9.06).

Andre Blakeney was seventh in the triple jump (37-2).

Taft Rivers was eighth in the high jump (5-4).

Archie Garland was eighth in the shot put (36-7).

- 8th-grade basketball

North Rowan Middle's girls stayed undefeated with a 39-23 victory against Knox on Monday.

Daterria Connor had 13 points to lead the Mavericks. Nikhyia Polk scored 10, while Onesha Stevenson added eight.

Vashti Usry scored 15 points for the Trojans.

* Southeast's girls rallied to nip Erwin 33-32 in a thriller.

Allison Blackwell's pass to Maddie Blume for a layup with 16 seconds left proved decisive.

Southeast's road victory put Southeast, Erwin and West Rowan in a three-way tie for second at 4-2.Blackwell paced Southeast with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Tyesha Phillips had nine points and 11 boards. Sidney Grkman had 11 rebounds.

Erwin was led by Sydney Poole with 14 points and nine rebounds and Allyson Mills with 10 points.

Bobbi Thomas had eight rebounds. Steffi Sides dished out six assists.

* Southeast's boys topped Erwin 39-38 on Travis Abbitt's coast-to-coast layup with 9.5 seconds left in the game.

Casey Stiller scored 20 points and had a big day on the boards for the Patriots.

Jack Gallagher had nine points, including four in the Patriots' fourth-quarter comeback. Abbitt finished with seven.

Erwin (0-8, 0-6) built a 36-29 lead with 2:56 to play but couldn't hold off the visitors.

Kyle Leslie scored 12 points and Tyler L'Hommideu 10 for the Eagles. Dalton Moose had five rebounds.

- West Rowan apparel

West Rowan football 3A state championship apparel is now available at the school's main office.

T-shirts are $15, long-sleeve sweatshirts are $20 and hoodies are $25.

- West Rowan rings

West Rowan's football program is seeking community support to help pay for championship rings for all 59 players and all the coaches and managers involved in the run to the 3A state title.

Rings will cost roughly $175 each, and there will be some shortfall even after revenues from the championship game are collected.

- South awards

South Rowan's fall awards banquet will be held on Thursday in the school auditorium.

The program for soccer, golf, tennis, volleyball and cross country awards begins at 6 p.m..

The football program will follow at 7 p.m.

- East wrestling

Fans attending tonight's Carson-East Rowan wrestling match at East are asked to park and enter at the rear of the gym. Front doors will be locked due to a holiday choral program.

- GARS on the links

Forty-eight GARS members played at Crescent on Monday.

Low 'A' Flight player was Les Loman with a net of 65.05.

Low 'B' Flight player was Harry DeVlieger with a net of 68.48.

Low 'C' Flight player with a net of 65.92 was Clive Mahaffey.

Low 'D' player was Bill Bradley with a net of 71.77.

- Rockwell Chargers

Rockwell Christian's varsity boys basketball team defeated Statesville Southview 59-46.

Jordan Blankenship scored 21 points, Nathan Funderburk had 18 points, and Josh Cummings had 11 points and 15 rebounds for the Chargers.

In a 69-66 victory against Lexington Union Grove, Funderburk scored 26, Blankenship 17 and Cummings 14.

* Rockwell Christian's varsity girls fell to Southview 45-29.

Alyssa Hudson had 15 points for Rockwell. Ashlie Miller had 12 points and 13 rebounds.

In a 35-19 loss against Union Grove, Brittany Hopkins scored nine for the Chargers.

* Rockwell's jayvee boys beat Southview 34-25 behind 10 points and 10 rebounds by Andrew Brown.

In a 46-33 win against Union Grove, Alex Straight poured in 23 for the Chargers.

- DCDS Diamondbacks

Davidson Country Day's boys won the Diamondbacks Holiday Hoops Invitational.

DCDS defeated Troy's Wescare Christian for the title. Conor Honeycutt scored 17 points for the Diamondbacks. Tim Burges had 12 points, and Kenrick Jobe had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Burges, Jobe and Celexus Long made all-tournament, along with Salisbury Academy's Philip Simons.

The Diamondback girls lost to Tyro 42-34 in the championship game. Jo Jo Chavis of DCDS made all-tournament.

* In other games, the Diamondback boys lost to Forsyth Country Day 45-39 and beat Salisbury Academy Blue.

Neusom Parker paced DCDS against SA with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Honeycutt scored 10 points against Forsyth.

- College track

N.C. State's Jason Jones (East Rowan) opened the indoor track season with a win in the shot put. Jones threw 51-111/4 in the Holiday Open at Christopher Newport.
