CHINA GROVE A Honda Accord and a Ford Explorer collided on U.S. 29 about 10:15 a.m.
Thursday, pinning in the driver of the Accord and killing him.Salisbury resident Darrell Dean Craven, 52,
of 325 Home Road, died on the scene Thursday morning.
A Rowan County Rescue Squad unit
was within a half-mile of the wreck, and Assistant Chief Steve immediately responded.
After emergency workers removed the drivers side door, Emergency Medical Services
confirmed Craven had died.
According to N.C. Highway Patrol
reports, Craven was on Red Fox Lane, which intersects U.S. 29.
His silver Accord pulled out in
front of John Michael Coates, 49, of 185 Lonzo Drive, and Michael Jimenez, 32, of 230
Douglas St., both of Salisbury, who were in a 1994 Ford Explorer headed south on U.S. 29.
The Explorer t-boned
the Accord, and Craven was pinned inside his car. One of the passengers of the Explorer
was taken to Rowan Regional but did not sustain serious injuries.
There was no indication of whether
Craven was turning into the other lane or if he was pulling out in front of the Explorer.
The estimated speed of either
vehicle was not available, and no charges have been filed. |
