CHINA GROVE — Mamie R. Bernhardt, 84, 410 Mount Moriah Road, died Thursday (Sept. 16, 1999) at The Laurels of Salisbury.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, is in charge.

 

Mabel Dunn

Mabel Dunn, 89, Salisbury, died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 1999) at The Laurels of Salisbury.

Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Ruby Wilhoit Hatley

ALBEMARLE — Ruby Wilhoit Hatley, 80, 40108 Stony Gap Road, died Tuesday (Sept. 14, 1999) at Mercy Hospital, Charlotte.

Born March 29, 1919, in Stanly County, Mrs. Hatley was a daughter of the late Martin Luther and Phronia Allen Wilhoit. A member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, she had retired from Wiscassett Mill Co.

Survivors include husband Raeford J. Hatley; sons Terry Ronald Hatley, Norwood, and Gerald Martin and Joel DeLane Hatley, both of Albemarle; daughters Mrs. Thomas (Cherry) McSwain, Cleveland, and Mrs. Roger (Judy) Harris, Wilmington; sister Mrs. John (Ruth) Stamper, Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Union Chapel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Curran Welch and the Rev. Martha Welch. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Stanly Funeral Home.

Marie Wilhelm Hedrick

LEXINGTON — Funeral services will be held Friday for Marie Wilhelm Hedrick, 85, 1248 City Lake Road, who died Tuesday (Sept. 14, 1999) at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The service time was changed due to the weather.

A sister, Ada W. Fleming of China Grove, was omitted from the list of survivors in Wednesday’s obituary.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Pilgrim Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Jim White. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the home on Ridge Road

Spencer Sherrill Jordan Jr.

Spencer Sherrill Jordan Jr., 61, 205-A Cedar Drive, died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.

Born July 19, 1938, in Rowan County, Mr. Jordan was a son of the late Spencer S. and Bessie Cline Jordan. Formerly in the entertainment business, he was the former president of the Cary Jaycees.

Survivors include daughters Mitzi Jordan, Austin, Texas, and Mrs. Ryan (Tina S.) Leben, Kannapolis; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: Memorial, 4 p.m. Friday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Franklin Myers.

Visitation: 3-4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Mildred Newman Lamm

ROCKWELL — A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday for Mildred Monica Newman Lamm, 75, Rockwell, who died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

The service will be held at Davis Chapel, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Branden Lemonds

TROY — Tanner and Branden Lemonds, infant sons of Curtis Edward and Melissa Menius Lemonds, 182 Dogwood Ave., died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Survivors, in addition to their parents, include sister MaKayla Lemonds, Troy; grandparents Charles Lemonds, Troy, and Mr. and Mrs. John Lawson, Salisbury; great-grandparents Bill and Betty Menius, Concord, Grant and Dorcas Lawson, Kannapolis, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Scully, Fertile, Minn.; and great-great-grandmother Nancy Pethel, Kannapolis.

Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Saturday, Sunset Cemetery, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Richard Pethel.

Visitation: None.

Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, is in charge.

 

Laura Lambert Majerick

OAKBORO — Laura Louise Lambert Majerick, 80, 8666 Swift Road, died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 1999) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.

Born in Stanly County, Mrs. Majerick was a daughter of the late Clarence Jerome and Arabelle Lambert Lambert. She had retired as a spinner at American and Efird Mill, Albemarle.

Her husband, Joseph Bernard Majerick, died in 1980.

Survivors include son Robert Majerick, Eden; daughters Louise Edwards, Norwood, and Jo Ann Majerick, Charlotte; brothers Louis Lambert, Stanfield, and C.J. Lambert Jr., Oakboro; sisters Wilma Hartsell, New London, Geneva Morgan, Oakboro, and Bernice Barbee, Stanfield; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel, Albemarle, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Ingle. Burial, Oakboro Cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Swift Road.

Martha Hines Morehead, 75, 308 W. Corriher Ave., died Thursday (Sept. 16, 1999) at her home.

Beatrice M. Robertson, 97, 729 W. Thomas St., died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

MOCKSVILLE — The funeral will be Friday for Press Columbus Robertson, 76, Howardtown Road, who died Tuesday (Sept. 14, 1999) at Davie County Hospital.

Born Dec. 18, 1922, in Davie County, Mr. Robertson was a son of the late Grover and Lizzie Potts Robertson. A retired sawmill operator, he later operated P&J Co. and recently worked at Bermuda Run Country Club. He was a member of Cornatzer Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include wife Dorothy Michael Robertson; sons Allen Grant Robertson, Clemmons, Press Shelton, Johnny N. and Timothy M. Robertson, all of Mocksville, and Jackie D. Robertson, Advance; daughter Sheila R. Owens, Mocksville; brother Calvin Arnold Robertson, Mocksville; sisters Opal Howard and Ruth Sheets, both of Mocksville; and 13 grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Cornatzer Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Elmer Day and the Rev. David Hudson. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Eaton Funeral Home.

 

Marvin ‘Tom’ Trembley

The funeral will be Saturday for Marvin Franklin “Tom” Trembley, 71, 2915 Old Union Church Road, who died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 1999) at his home.

Born Jan. 30, 1928, in Concord, Mr. Trembley was a son of the late Lewis and Hallie Trembley. Educated in the Cabarrus County schools, he had retired from Dixie Furniture, Lexington. He was a member of West Park Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include wife Elsie Faye Miller Trembley; son Rodney Trembley, Lexington; daughter Donna Coley, Salisbury; stepsons Bobby and Ray Burchette, both of Rockwell, and Thomas Burchette, China Grove; stepdaughters Helen Sprinkle and Betty Misenheimer, both of Rockwell; sisters Ruth and Betty Trembley, formerly of Concord; 14 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Northcrest Chapel, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Charles Carver, pastor, West Park Baptist Church. Burial, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, North Wilkesboro.

Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
