Caskey, 97, Salisbury, died Sunday (Sept. 12, 1999) at Genesis ElderCare of Salisbury
after a period of declining health.
Born Aug. 9, 1902, in Rowan County, Mrs. Caskey
was a daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Stoner Earnhardt. Educated in the Rowan County
schools, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, Granite
Quarry,
Her husband, Capers C. Caskey, died Jan. 11, 1982.
Survivors include son C.C. Caskey Jr.,Faith;
daughters Mrs. John (Helen)Peeler, Salisbury, Mrs. Charles (Peggy) Wardell, Concord, and
Mrs. Bernard (Elaine)Todd, Hampton, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and
seven great-great-grandchildren.

Lucille Phifer Culbertson
CLEVELAND The funeral will be Wednesday for
Lucille Phifer Culbertson, 87, 13330 Statesville Blvd., who died Sunday (Sept. 12, 1999)
at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after a period of declining health.
Born June 27, 1912, in Rowan County, Mrs.
Culbertson was a daughter of the late Issac Anderson and Katie Carr Phifer. Educated in
the Rowan County schools, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Cameron Presbyterian Church,
Elmwood, where she was active in the Missionary Circle. She worked at the West Rowan
Nutritional Site.
Her husband, Joseph Theodore Culbertson, and a
son, Henry Culbertson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Margaret Culbertson,
Salisbury, and Mae Helen Rankin, Cleveland; sisters Helen Stockton, Cleveland, and
Florence Rankin, Statesville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cameron
Presbyterian Church, Elmwood, conducted by the Rev. Joe L. Spears. The body will be taken
to the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial,church cemetery.
Visitation: There will be no formal visitation.
The family will be at the home of daughter Helen Rankin, 6370 Old Highway 70.
Charles Ray Bo Gaskins
KANNAPOLIS Charles Ray Bo
Gaskins, 77, 1007 Wentworth Drive, died Monday (Sept. 13, 1999) at NorthEast Medical
Center, Concord.
Born March 1, 1922, in Chesterfield, S.C., Mr.
Gaskins was a son of the late Harold and
Fannie Beasley Gaskins. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Europe during World War
II. Retired from Widenhouse Motors, he was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Geneva
Barbee Gaskins; son Randy Gaskins, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter Mrs. George (Cindy)
Hamrick, Wendell; brothers Boyce Gaskins, Kannapolis, Robert Gaskins, Lake Norman, and
Harold Gaskins, Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister Sarah Hayes, Johnson City, Tenn.; and four
grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Whitleys
Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Charlie Littlejohn and the Rev. Charles
Stafford. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Willene Fisher Hathcock
ALBEMARLE Willene Fisher Hathcock, 83,
21066 St. Martin Road, died Monday (Sept. 13, 1999) at her home.
Born April 13, 1916, in Cabarrus County, Mrs.
Hathcock was a daughter of the late Charles and Gatha Hahn Fisher. She was a homemaker.
A member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church,
she served as president of the United Methodist Women for many years.
Her husband, John Ray Hathcock, died Sept. 19,
1983.
Survivors include son Larry Fisher Hathcock,
Charlotte; daughter Mrs. Olin (Becky Ann) Lord,
Thomasville; sister Helen Barrier, Concord; five grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.

Robert Bob Lee Mize
LEXINGTON Robert Bob Lee Mize, 79, Lexington, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) at
Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 8, 1920, in Davidson County, Mr. Mize
was a son of the late Charlie Colombus and Daisy Elizabeth Byerly Mize. A veteran of the
U.S. Army, he served during World War II. He had retired from Bambi Bakery.
Survivors include wife Sue Mize; daughters Linda
Gallimore, Denton, Mae Steed, Lexington, and Sherry Lee Lilly, Salisbury; sons Robert Lee
Mize Jr., Tennessee, and Bobby Ray Lilly, Lexington; sisters Pauline Bates, Lexington, and
Cathleen Younts, Reedy Creek; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Voska Yanacek
The funeral will be Friday for Elizabeth Voska Yanacek, 94, 2517 Fox Fire Drive, who died Sunday
(Sept. 12, 1999) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Nov. 19, 1904, in New York, Mrs. Yanacek was
a daughter of the late Rudolph and Alousa Voska. A homemaker, she was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William
Yanacek, who died May 21, 1979, and daughters Dorothy Reissner and Helen Salmon.
Survivors include five grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Sandles Funeral Home,
Islip Terrace, N.Y., conducted by the Rev. James Wood. Burial, Bohemian Union Cemetery,
Islip Terrace, N.Y.
