June HankinsJune Lane Goforth
Hankins, 57, Las Cruces, N.M., formerly of Statesville and Salisbury, died Tuesday (Sept.
7, 1999) at Hospice Hospital in Las Cruces after a six-year battle with cancer.
Born June 24, 1942, in Iredell County, Ms. Hankins
was a daughter of J. Frank and Doris Readling Goforth of Statesville. A graduate of
Statesville High School, she attended Florida State University and graduated cum laude
from Appalachian State University. A member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, she was
secretary to the dean of the graduate school at New Mexico State University.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include
daughter Grayson Hankins, Las Cruces, N.M.; and brother Steve Goforth, Statesville.
Services: Memorial, 7 p.m. friday, Nicholson
Funeral Home Chapel, Statesville, conducted by Dr. Abe Cox. Burial will be held at a later
date.
Visitation: At the funeral home after the service.

CONCORD The funeral will be Friday for Edna
Anderson Clodfelter Mancuso, 80, First Assembly Living Center, who died Tuesday (Sept. 7,
1999) at NorthEast Medical Center after several years of declining health and two weeks of
serious illness.
Born April 6, 1919, in Alexander County, Mrs.
Mancuso was a daughter of the late Sanford G. and Bessie Wellmon Anderson. She formerly
worked for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore and as a credit analyst for
various retail stores in Richmond, Va., Chattanooga, Tenn., and Charlotte. She was a member of Green Memorial
Baptist Church, Charlotte.
Survivors include daughter Mrs. Don L. (Patricia
C.) Hogue, Kannapolis; brothers Bill
Anderson, Orting, Wash., Troy Anderson, Pineville, and Newell Anderson, China Grove;
sister Gladys Milkulski, Baltimore; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

Cecil Koontz McDaniel
MOCKSVILLE The funeral will be Thursday for
Cecil Koontz McDaniel, 88, Godbey Road, who died Tuesday (Sept. 7, 1999) at Autumn Care of
Mocksville.
Born Dec. 11, 1910, in Davie County, Mr. McDaniel
was a son of the late James Sanford and Lela Alice Koontz McDaniel. A farmer, he had also
worked for Edwards Furniture. He was a member of Center United Methodist Church.
Known as the Apple Man for selling
apples and other produce, he received a number of blue ribbons at the Center Fair.
His wife, Beatrice Davis McDaniel, and sons J.C.
and Cecil Herman McDaniel preceded him in death.
Survivors include son Grady McDaniel; seven
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

27, of Dunes Cove, died Sunday (Sept. 5, 1999) at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
His mother, Janet Piatt McMichael, a former Salisbury, N.C., resident, now lives in Myrtle
Beach.

Jamie Linn Rabon
Jamie Linn Rabon, 20, of Salisbury, died Wednesday
(Sept. 8, 1999) from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born Feb. 22, 1979, in Rowan County, Mr. Rabon was
a son of Nancy Cameron Bonds, of the home, and Edward Rabon of Salisbury. He was a
graduate of West Rowan High School and was attending Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. A
Baptist, he was employed with Freightliner in Cleveland.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include
brother Michael Shane Rabon, Rockwell; half sisters Brooke Bonds, of the home, and
Brittany Rabon, Salisbury; stepmother Betsy Rabon, Salisbury; paternal grandparents Edgar
and Ruby Rabon, Spencer; maternal grandmother Vada Cameron, China Grove; and maternal
step-great-grandmother Pearl Cameron, High Point.

Born May 5, 1915, in Rowan County, Mr. Smith was a
son of the late George Allan and Elizabeth Leazer Smith. Educated in the Rowan County
schools, he had retired from Cannon Mills. He was a member of St. Marks Lutheran
Church.
His wife, Lucille Basinger Smith, died June 7,
1992.
