Joseph BassThe funeral will be
Thursday for Joseph Bass, 48, 605 E. Bank St., who died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1999) at his
home after a year of declining health.
Born Oct. 10, 1950, in Eatonton, Ga., Mr. Bass was a son of the late Wess and
Annie Davis Bass. A graduate of the Elizabeth, N.J., schools, he worked as a wood pallet
designer for Pallets & Son, Elizabeth, N.J. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include wife Joni Arlene Kennedy Bass;
son Joseph Bass Jr., Elizabeth, N.J.; daughters Tawanda and Tiffany Kennedy, both of the
home, and Nickole and Tracey Kennedy, both of Salisbury; brothers Willie C. and Artis
Bass, both of Newark, N.J., and Richard Bass, Georgia; sisters Carrie Butler, Union, N.J.,
Dorothy Powell, Plainfield, N.J., Rosa Harvey, Opa Locka, Fla., and Annie Shell, Tucson,
Ariz.; and six grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Southern City AME Zion Church, East Spencer, conducted by Dr.
Donald C. Holness. Burial, National Cemetery, Salisbury. Military rites by Rowan Veterans Council.
Visitation: 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Darthy Burke Mundy
MOORESVILLE Darthy Burke Mundy, 66,
Lawnhaven Drive, died Tuesday (Sept. 7, 1999) at her home.
Born July 9, 1933, in Rowan County, Mrs. Mundy was
a daughter of the late Calvin Price and Inez Shoemaker Burke. A nursing assistant, she
retired after 13 years from Iredell Memorial Hospital, Statesville. She was a member of
Vanderburg United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady
West Mundy; daughter, Lesia Mundy.
Survivors include sons Michael W. Mundy, Mount
Ulla, and Danny P. Mundy, Mooresville; daughters Lori M. McDaniels and Becky M. Insogna,
both of Mooresville; sisters Margie Jackson and Willine Kennerly, both of Mooresville;
eight grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Margie Elizabeth White
MOCKSVILLE The funeral will be Thursday for
Margie Elizabeth White, 89, Farmington Road, who died Monday (Sept. 6, 1999) at Autumn
Care of Mocksville.
Born April 25, 1910, in Davie County, Miss White
was the daughter of the late William Walker and Lillie Allen White. An in-home health
caregiver, she was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sister Ruth Whitfield,
Greensboro.

EAST BEND The Rev. Clifton Williams, 92,
East Bend, died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1999) at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem,
after four days of serious illness.
He had been a member of the Rowan Baptist
Association and frequently preached in the area.

Fred Lentz Eudy
OAKBORO Fred Lentz Eudy, 76, 16284 McLester
Road, died Monday (Sept. 6, 1999) at Salisburys Hefner VA Medical Center.
Born July 20, 1923, in Stanly County, Mr. Eudy was
a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Alice Burris Eudy. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he
served during World War II. He retired as a maintenance worker from Collins & Aikman, Albemarle.
A son, Gene Eudy, preceded him in death.
Survivors include wife Vera Pines Coble Eudy; son
Michael Eudy, Oakboro; daughters Suzanne Huneycutt, Debbie Chaney, both of Oakboro, and
Betsy Tysinger, Asheboro; brothers Claude Eudy, New London, Ralph Eudy, Albemarle, and
Dewell Eudy, Norwood; sisters Ruth Smith and Mildred McRae, both of Mount Gilead, and
Nellie Hearne, Albemarle; and six grandchildren.

Drive, died Monday (Sept. 6, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Jan. 26, 1927, in Moore County, Mrs. Lowder
was a daughter of the late John Kenneth and Lacy Catherine Reynolds Dowd. Educated at
Queens College, she retired as a teacher from North Albemarle Elementary School. She was a
member of First Presbyterian Church, Albemarle.
Survivors include husband Blanton R. Lowder; son
Charles B. Lowder, Arden; daughters Karen Louise Lowder, Charlotte, and Anna Lowder
McFarland, Raleigh; brother J. Kenneth Dowd Jr., Charlotte; sisters Katherine D. Griffin,
Monroe, and Marie D. Spears, Mount Holly; and four grandchildren.

Church, conducted by the Rev. Gus Feather. The body will be placed in the church prior to

and sisters Rose Brewington, Baltimore, Md., and Pearline Williams, Salisbury.
