Found car connected to murder

SALISBURY POST

A white 1989 Ford Mustang found Wednesday evening on Goodman Lake Road near the Yadkin River Bridge may have been left there by a man suspected of a murder in Wilson County.

Lt. John Sifford at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department said they ran a check on the vehicle’s tag when the car still hadn’t been moved by Thursday and tracked it to Wilson County.

Sifford said the Wilson County Sheriff’s office reported that the car belonged to Kenneth Peele, who was one of two people, both in their mid-50s, found Oct. 24, shot in the chest, on Sim’s Road in Wilson County. An unidentified woman also was shot.

The woman is in critical condition at a Wilson County hospital. Peele died shortly after talking with police about what happened.

Wilson County police believe the suspect, Dennis Carroll Walker, left the scene in Peele’s Mustang after shooting the man and woman.

Police say Walker, 28, is a white male about 5 feet 4 inches, 150 pounds, with brown eyes and blond hair. He has a tattoo on the left arm. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Sifford said police don’t know where Walker is, but Wilson County has warrants against him for murder and assault with a deadly weapon, with intent to kill, and inflicting serious injury. Walker has no known ties in Rowan County. He has an ex-wife in North Wilkesboro.

Peele’s car has been towed and stored in Rowan County. Anyone with information about the suspect should call the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, 636-1011 or the Wilson County Sheriffs Department, 252-237-2118.
