Kannapolis man found in South Carolina

BY BRAD A. HODGES
SALISBURY POST

KANNAPOLIS — A man missing for four days was found Tuesday night in Florence County, S.C.

A Florence County sheriff’s deputy found Noel Matthew “Matt” Harrison, 33, of 2409 Pennsylvania Ave., Kannapolis at 8:45 p.m. last night. He spotted Harrison walking with his dog along a road, Kannapolis Police Lt. David James said.

Harrison’s sister drove there from Kannapolis Tuesday night to pick him up.

Florence County straddles Interstate 95 in northeast South Carolina. A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s department could not provide more information today about how Harrison got there.

Harrison and his dog, Princess, a 4-month-old female chow-Rottweiler mix, had been missing since Friday morning. His sister and legal guardian, JoAnn Marie Harrison, had last heard him taking a shower Thursday night.

Matt Harrison, who is mentally disabled, had left without money or the medicine he needs for epileptic seizures. He had never run away before, JoAnn Harrison said.

Authorities believe he may have been heading to 84 Fern Lane, Lake Worth, Fla., where he had lived previously for 10 years with his late mother. He has lived with his sister in Kannapolis for about two months. She could not be reached for comment this morning.
