Faith Lutheran Church wound up its centennial celebration this past weekend with a trip
back in time. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, church members demonstrated the activities
of daily life as they would have been practiced 100 years ago.Women of the church made mints, churned butter, stitched
needlepoint, wove baskets and washed clothes on a washboard. Pharmacist Tim Williams
showed how medicines used to be compounded and administered.
Outside, church members braved the cold to play an
old-time game of ball.
Church cooks sold homemade bread and pound cakes
as a fundraiser.
Sunday, following a year of special observances
including guest preachers, pastors Keith and Judy Copeland led worship including a
service, with a lot of amens, as it would have been practiced 100 years ago. Keith
Copelands sermon, Turn of the Century Faith, looked back at the
churchs beginning and forward to the new century. Many members of the congregation
came to worship dressed in period costume.
A quartet from the choir sang The Old Rugged
Cross.
Joanne Holshouser was in charge of Heritage Day.
