Jennie Lee Coble Curlee

ALBEMARLE — Jennie Lee Coble Curlee, 90, 24724 U.S. 52 S., died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 27, 1909, in Oakboro, Mrs. Curlee was a daughter of the late Millard Filmore and Martha Jane Burris Coble. She was retired.

Her husband, Crawford Demander Curlee, preceded her in death.

Survivors include son Crawford D. Curlee, Oakboro; daughters Helena McClellan and Nelle Bruton, both of Oakboro, and Betty Huneycutt and Carolyn Hathcock, both of Charlotte; brother Claude Coble, Oakboro; nine grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 4 p.m. Saturday, Smiths Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Everette Cooper.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Helena McClellan, 220 W. Sixth St., Oakboro.

 

Ray Jackson Goodman

CONCORD — Ray Jackson Goodman, 84, formerly of Winecoff School Road, half brother of Ruth Corriher of China Grove, died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1999) at Fire Oaks Nursing Center.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Saturday, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Saturday,Wilkinson Funeral Home.

Memorials: Mount OlivetUnited Methodist Church, 301 Mount Olivet Road,Concord, N.C. 28025.

 

Antha Neal Sides Harkey

ALBEMARLE — Antha Neal Sides Harkey, 74, 920 Wood St., died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at her home.

Born Dec. 2, 1924, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Harkey was a daughter of the late Ray Alexander Sides and Pearl Crawford Sides Moose. She retired from Wiscasset Mills.

Her husband, John Howell Harkey, preceded her in death.

There are no immediate survivors.

Services: None.

Visitation: None.

Hartsell Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Catherine M. Leonardis

STANFIELD — The funeral will be Saturday for Catherine Elizabeth McGarrill Leonardis, 79, 233 Sunset Lane Road, who died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1999) at her home.

Born Nov. 26, 1919, in Hudson County, N.J., Mrs. Leonardis was a daughter of the late John and Catherine Murphy McGarrill. Retired, she was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church.

Her husband, Edward Richard Leonardis, died in 1987.

Survivors include son Edward Richard Leonardis Jr., West Creek, N.J.; daughters Linda Kendall and Sandra Sarif, both of Stanfield, and Kathleen Pirrello, Brick, N.J.; sisters Fran Gillespie, Kearny, N.J., Sheila Gray, Whiting, N.J., Marie McCarthy, Toms River, N.J., and Ann O’Deal, Montville, N.J.; brother Coleman McGarrill,Tampa, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Annunciation Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. Coleman McGarrill and the Rev. Lawrence W. Heiney. Burial,Norview Gardens, Norwood.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Sunset Lake Road.

 

Gladys Tucker Link

Gladys Tucker Link, 68, Salisbury, died Friday (Oct. 22, 1999) at her home.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Ada Basinger Matthews

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — Ada Geneva Basinger Matthews, 74, Greencastle, died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1999) at her home.

Born April 2, 1925, in Concord, N.C., Mrs. Matthews was a daughter of the late Will and Mollie Collet Basinger. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, FredHarold Matthews, died Nov. 15, 1983.

Survivors include son William L. Matthews, Indianapolis; sisters Rose Burris and Bell Burgess, both of Kannapolis, N.C., and Katie Mackmanis, Indian Trail, N.C.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 3:30 p.m. Monday, West Lawn Memorial Park,China Grove, N.C.

Visitation: 1-3 p.m. Monday, Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home, Landis, N.C.

 

Clara Marie Parham

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Saturday for Clara Marie Parham, 62, 8451 Cloverfield Drive, who died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at her home.

Born March 2, 1937, in Rowan County, Mrs. Parham was a daughter of Beatrice Keeter Holcombe, Kannapolis, and the late Frank Holcombe. Formerly employed by Fieldcrest Cannon No. 7 spinning room and finishing department, she was a member of Rodgers Park Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include husband Lee Parham; daughters Diane Parker and Debbie King, both of Kannapolis; son Arvie Lee Parham, China Grove; brothers Kenneth Leon Holcombe, Kannapolis, and Larry Wayne Holcombe, Hickory; sister Geraldine Winchester, Kannapolis; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Tony Fox. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
