Born Aug. 8, 1922, in Rowan
County, Mrs. Auerback was a daughter of the late Myrtle Mattie Mae Bost and Henry J.
Roseman. Educated in Rowan County, Mrs. Auerback retired from Rowan Industries. She was a
member of Organ Lutheran Church and Organ seniors.
Survivors include son Charles
Auerback, of the home; daughter Darlene Lopez, Salisbury; J.C. Roseman, Salisbury; and
three grandchildren.

Barringer, 74, 509 Archibald Road, died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 1999) at NorthEast Medical
Center.
Born Dec. 30, 1925, in Cabarrus
County, Mr. Barringer was a son of the late Mary Faggart and Guy Edney Barringer. Retired
as a heavy equipment operator from Cannon Mills Co., he was a member of Mount Hermon
Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Howell Barringer; sons Eddie Barringer, China Grove, and James JimBarringer,

County, Mr. Blue was a son of the late Mable Caple and the Rev. John Henry Blue. He was a
member of American Legion Post 172 for 50 years.

Hyde, 76, 103 Phifer St., died Monday (Oct. 18, 1999)at 607 Dobson Drive, Charlotte, after
several weeks of illness.
Born March 29, 1923, in Rowan
County, she was a daughter of the late Martha Cowan. A graduate of Rowan County public
schools, she retired from Salisbury-Rowan Schools, West Rowan Middle School. She was a
member of Third Creek AME Zion Church, the stewardess and deaconess boards, Life Members
Council, Parent Body Missionary, usher board, and received District Usher of the Year
award. She was also a class leader.
Her daughter, Emma B. Blue, died
April 23, 1990; a son, George Hyde III, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Brenda
Pierce, Charlotte, and Martha Hyde, Los Angeles, Calif.; brother Grover Cowan,
Philadelphia, Pa.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

87, 430 Brookwood Ave. N.E., formerly of Rockwell, died Monday (Oct. 18, 1999) at Concord
Nursing Center.
Born Dec. 15, 1911, in Cabarrus
County, Miss Kluttz was a daughter of the late Emma Goodman and Charles A. Kluttz.
Educated in Cabarrus County schools she was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. A
lifelong member of Boger United Church of Christ, she once taught in the church school.
She was a leader and teacher in the summer Bible school, a member of the women of the
church and secretary of the Womens Sunday Circle. She was active in various
programs, projects and activities of the church as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include brother George
E. Kluttz and sister Ruth Misenheimer, both of Rockwell.

Lipe, 89, 301 Idlewood Drive, died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 1999) at Brian Center.
Born May 5, 1910, in Raleigh, Dr.
Lipe was a son of the late Nell Witherspoon and Henry L. Lipe. He attended Duke University
and graduated from the Atlanta Southern Dental College, and was a member of the Sigma
Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and Omega Dental Fraternity.
He practiced dentistry in
Kannapolis and with the N.C. Department of Human Resources in the schools of Cabarrus and
surrounding counties. Dr. Lipe was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and served in
England during World War II with the 8th Air Force Dental Corp.
Survivors include wife Gladys
Gette Lipe, whom he married Jan. 10, 1946, and brother Henry Lipe Jr., Asheville.

Born Oct. 13, 1925, in Wilbar, Mr.
Miller was a son of the late Alice Mash and the Rev. Ed O. Miller. In earlier years he was
employed by Cannon Mills Co. Plant 1 village maintenance department for many years. He
later worked with the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources, History &Archives
Division, for 13 years until his retirement in 1990.

Ronald Richard Ruben, 59, a native
of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Salisbury, died Monday (Oct. 18, 1999) after a period of
declining health.
Mr. Ruben was a son of the late
Oscar Battling Oscar Rodriguez and Francis Baby FrancisHope Voges.
He graduated from Chamberlain High, Tampa Fla., and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a
former carrier for the Salisbury Post.
Survivors include wife Peggy
Gulledge Ruben, Salisbury; sons Tim Ruben, Kannapolis, Terry Ruben, and Steve Ruben, both
of Salisbury; brother Jerry Rodriguez, Alabama; sister Roxanna Morgan, Brooksville, Fla.;
and two grandchildren.

County, Mr. Rustin was a son of the late Susie Davis and Hubert Rustin. He attended Dunbar
High School and retired from Boral (Isenhour) Brick &Tile. He was a member of
Northeast Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, Salisbury.
His first wife, Julie Evans
Rustin, died Feb. 14, 1992.
