Clyde Studevent

MOCKSVILLE - Clyde Studevent, 85, Campbell Road, died Thursday (Oct. 7, 1999), at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem. He was co-founder of Morrison-Studevent Funeral Home.

Born Sept. 5, 1914, in Davie County, Mr. Studevent was a son of the late William “Asbury”and Angeline Caither Studevent. A retired Star Route mail carrier with 33 years of service, he had also been a licensed funeral director for 40 years.

Mr. Studevent was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include wife Cora Lee Blackburn Studevent; son Clyde R. Studevent Jr., Mocksville; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Walter Tidline. Burial, church cemetery, with full Masonic rites.

Visitation: 7-8 p.m. Saturday, Morrison-Studevent Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of his son on Campbell Road.

 

Robert A. Thompson Jr.

Robert “Robby” Albert Thompson Jr., 44, Salisbury, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) at his residence.

Born Oct. 20, 1954, in Rowan County, Mr. Thompson was a son of Elizabeth Pepper Blackman and Robert Albert Thompson, both of Salisbury. A 1972 graduate of Olympic High School in Charlotte, he was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.

A disabled veteran, he had been earlier employed by Interstate Truckers. He was a member of the Statesville Avenue Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include brother Terry Wayne Thompson, Salisbury; sisters Bobbie Joe “Jodie” Strider, Lake Norman, Rickie McAuley, Huntersville, Wanda Williams, Mooresville, Trena Thompson, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Arlica Thompson, Winston-Salem.

Services:Graveside, 2 p.m. Saturday, Trading Ford Baptist Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Mike Motley, pastor.

Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence of his mother.

Memorials: Trading Ford Baptist Church, 3600 Long Ferry Road, Salisbury, N.C. 28146.

 

Louise Cowan Walker

PHILADELPHIA — Louise Cowan Walker, 77, of Philadelphia, died Friday (Sept. 24, 1999) at Albert Einstein Medical Hospital, Philadelphia.

She was the sister of Monroe Cowan, Salisbury, N.C.

Services were held Sept. 30 at Dallas M. Miller Funeral Home. Burial was at Mount Peach Cemetery.
