Two days after a Salisbury mans ear was cut and his throat slashed, the man accused
of doing it is in the hospital with a gunshot wound.William Still, 54, remains at Rowan Regional Medical Center in critical condition
after being shot in the chest.
Shortly after midnight Sunday, two men wearing ski
masks kicked the door of Stills room open and shot him with an undetermined caliber
gun, Salisbury Police Capt. Mark Wilhelm said.
Still lives in a boarding house at 312 E. 11th St.
At that same address, on Friday, Still was accused
of cutting Jerry Rhodes, 62, of 920 S. Fulton St., on the face during a fight.
Rhodes left ear was partially cut off and he
suffered a wound across his throat. Police indicated alcohol was involved in the dispute.
Rhodes told police he did not want to press
charges after the Friday night assault, but police have talked to the District
Attorneys Office about pursing charges against Still.
Right now, police are investigating the Sunday
attack on Still and hope to make an arrest.
