The trial will begin Monday for a wife accused of killing her husband by pinning him
between her car and a tree.Vanessa
Nadine Gordon, 40, is charged with first-degree murder in the Oct. 5, 1998 death of
Christopher Gordon.
Investigators believe Gordon
spotted her husband leaving another womans Weant Street apartment in the early hours
of the morning.
According to reports, Gordon then
accelerated her car and struck her husband, pushing him against a tree.
Paramedics arrived at the scene a
few minutes later and found Christopher Gordon pinned between the tree and the vehicle.
Vanessa Gordon was still in her
car, law enforcement officials said.
Christopher Gordon was taken to
Rowan Regional Medical Center before being transported to Carolinas Medical Center in
Charlotte.
Medical personnel indicated
Christopher Gordon died around 8:30 that morning due to massive trauma to his abdomen.
At the time, police believed
Vanessa Gordon caught her husband cheating and decided to run him down,
according to reports.
Vanessa Gordon was employed at
Autumn Care, and had no prior criminal charges before the incident.
She was released on a $10,000 bond
shortly after being arrested. District Attorney Bill Kenerly is not seeking the death
penalty.
