Henry Ray BrawleyMOORESVILLE
Henry Ray Brawley, 87, formerly of Mooresville, died Monday (Nov. 15, 1999) at the
Hickory Lutheran Home.
A Mooresville native, Mr. Brawley was a son of the
late Pratt and Carrie Brawley. He was a retired electrical contractor. He was a former
member of the Mooresville City Council, a former volunteer fireman and a former member of
the Mooresville Lions Club.
He was a member of Central United Methodist
Church. A Mason for 58 years, he was a past master of JudsonLodge 319 in Greenville, S.C.
His wife of 51 years,Faye C. Brawley, and his
second wife, Carrie Morrison Brawley, preceded him in death. A grandson also preceded him
in death.
Survivors include son Mac Brawley, Cherryville;
daughter Barbara B. McAden Betts, Virginia Beach, Va.; stepchildren Marlene Hinson, Elaine
Campbell and Albert, Wayne, Gale, Norman, Joe and Barry Morrison, all of Statesville, and
Imogene Stroud, Harmony; sisters Lena Sue Beam, Cherryville, Helen Gillespie,
Harrisonburg, Va., and Dorothy Brawley, Hickory; four grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.

Ruby Frick Cole
ALBEMARLE Ruby Frick Cole, 74, Albemarle,
died Tuesday (Nov. 16, 1999) at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.
Born Oct. 24, 1925, in Stanly County, Mrs. Cole
was a daughter of the late Moses Alexander and Mamie Lee Laughlin Frick. Formerly employed
by Fieldcrest Cannon, she was a former organist at Grace Baptist Church and Memorial
Baptist Church, Norwood. She was also a former pianist at North Albemarle Baptist Church.
She was a member of the Singing Americans, a
private piano teacher, and a substitute teacher in the Stanly County school system.
She was preceded in death by husbands Marvin A.
Coley and John Clegg Cole.
Survivors include son Marvin Eugene Coley, Plano,
Texas; sisters Betty F. Austin, Raleigh, and Virginia R. Drinnon, Albemarle; brother James
W. Frick, Charlotte; and two grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Hartsell Funeral Home,
conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Lambert and the Rev. Gary Pinion. Burial, Stanly Gardens of

Elsie Melissa Daugherty
Elsie Melissa Daugherty, 32, 1614 Standish St.,
died Tuesday (Nov. 16, 1999) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center,
Winston-Salem.
Born Feb. 17, 1967, in Rowan County, Mrs.
Daugherty was a daughter of Julia Krider of Salisbury and the late Walter Lee Daugherty.
Educated at Salisbury High School and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, she was last
employed at New Zion Baptist Church.
A daughter, Raieashia Daugherty, died July 28,
1995.
Survivors include fiance Perman James Oglesby II,
Salisbury; daughters Sheenia L. and Sal-queti K. Daugherty, both of the home; brother
Walter Lee Daugherty Jr., Cana, Va.; sisters Wartenna Krider, Charlotte, and Kendra L.
Finger, Salisbury; and maternal great-grandfather Hezekiah Krider, Salisbury.

Ralph Farmer
KANNAPOLIS The funeral will be Thursday for
Charles Ralph Farmer, 69, 908 E. 13th St., who died Monday (Nov. 15, 1999) at his home.
Born March 19, 1930, in Cabarrus County, Mr.
Farmer was a son of the late Francis Marion and Irene Casper Farmer. He had retired five
years ago as a supervisor at Draymore Manufacturing in Mooresville.
He was a vendor at the Metrolina Expo in Charlotte
and the Super Flea in Greensboro. He attended Homeland Baptist Church.

Marshall Isenhour
The funeral will be Thursday for William
Marshall Isenhour, 34, 219 Pleasant Green Road, Hillsborough, formerly of
Salisbury, who died Sunday (Nov. 14, 1999) in Buford, Ga., of injuries sustained in an
automobile accident.
Born April 14, 1965, in Salisbury, Mr. Isenhour
was the son of the late Charles Wesley Isenhour Jr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Foutz
Isenhour. He was a graduate of Salisbury High School and Haywood Technical College.
Formerly owner and operator of Isenhour Wood
Products, he had also been employed with Hammill Trucking Co. and Bost Trucking. He was
co-owner of Gold Point Hardwoods in Gold Hill before purchasing Cresent Farms in
Hillsborough.
A member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, he
served on the board of directors of the N.C. Therapeutic Riding Center. He was chairman of
the Tax Watch Committee of Orange County and a graduate of the Institute of Political
Leadership.
Survivors include wife Diane Geer Isenhour, whom
he married Dec. 28, 1990; stepdaughter Christina Shehan, Great Falls, Mont.; brothers
Charles Thomas Isenhour, Salisbury, and Barry Foutz Isenhour, Atlanta; sister Patricia
Gaye Isenhour Vaselevich, Hilton Head, S.C.; stepmother Velma Johnson Isenhour, Salisbury;
and two grandchildren.

Phillip Lee Jones
LENOIR The Rev. Phillip Lee Jones, 50,
Lenoir, died Sunday (Nov. 14, 1999) at Caldwell Memorial Hospital after an extended
illness.
Born in Concord, Mr. Jones was a son of James
Kirk, Lexington, and the late Jesie Mae Jones. Educated in the Cabarrus and Iredell county
schools, he attended Mitchell Community College, CaldwellCommunity College and
Fayetteville State University.
An officer on the Statesville police force, he was
the first African American police chief in North Carolina while serving on the Ellerbe
force. He had also worked for Housing and Urban Development as executive director of
Lenoir Housing. After he retired, he owned and operated Jones Bar-B-Que Pit.
Early in life Mr. Jones joined Mount Pilgrim
Baptist Church and was called into the ministry in 1986. He was pastor at Dula Chapel
Baptist Church for six years.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include wife
Carolyn L. Jones; sons Phillip Jones Jr. and Tighe Jones, both of Lenoir, Bryant Jones,
Statesville, and William Shanks, Washington, D.C.; daughters Michelle Jones and Love
Jones, both of Statesville; brothers the Rev. James Kirk, New Jersey, Toney Kirk,
Lexington, and Gary Roseborough, Spencer; sisters Addie Tucker, Lenoir, and Sheila Kirk,
Lexington; and eight grandchildren.

Arlene Mixon
LEXINGTON Arlene Marie Everett Mixon, 67,
1221 Raleigh Road, died Monday (Nov. 15, 1999) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical
Center, Winston-Salem.
Born May 17, 1932, in Ingham County, Mich., Mrs.
Mixon was a daughter of the late Harry J. and Lillian Mae Spangler Everett. A Davidson
County resident since 1991, she was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include daughter Gail Marie Howell, Fort
Mill, S.C.; sons Robert and Wesley L. Mixon, both of Lexington, and Gregory L. Mixon, of
the home; sisters Winnifred Jackson and Cora Belle Frankovich, both of Lansing, Mich.;
brother Harry J. Everett Jr., Federal Way, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.

STATESVILLE Bobby Scott Neil, 67, 605
Brevard St., died Saturday (Nov. 13, 1999) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation,
Salisbury.
Born May 28, 1932, in Iredell County, Mr. Neil was
a son of the late Havanzel and Ina Scott Neil. A graduate of Unity High School, he was a
U.S. Air Force veteran.

Lee Collins Scott
LEXINGTON The funeral will be Thursday for
Lee Collins Scott, 77, 301 Lillie Drive, who died Saturday (Nov. 13, 1999) at Lexington
Memorial Hospital after two years of declining health.
Born Feb. 22, 1922, in Bishopville, S.C., Mr.
Scott was a son of the late Henry Ed and Rebecca Boyd Scott. Retired from Henry Link Co.,
he owned Scott Construction Co. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a former
member of Acacia Lodge No. 66 P.H.A.
His wife, Vera Knotts Scott, died Dec. 1, 1997.

Danny Scott, High Point, Edward Scott, Bryon Scott and Kenneth Scott, all of Lexington,

Lillian Mary Shoaf
Lillian Mary Shoaf, 93, died Tuesday (Nov. 16,
1999) in Salisbury.
Born March 9, 1906, in England, Mrs. Shoaf was a
daughter of the late William and Sarah Clarkson Griffith. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Walter L. Shoaf, died in 1974.
Survivors include son William Shives, Salisbury;
daughter Nancy Lomax, Monroe; sister Evelyn Smith, Concord; eight grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren.
