Earnhardt, 84, died Saturday (Oct. 30, 1999) at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville.
Born on Feb. 17, 1915, Mr.
Earnhardt was a son of the late Walter A. and Viola Cauble Earnhardt.
He retired after 26 years as an
officer with Southern Railroad, Tuscumbia, Ala.
A member and past patron of Order
of the Eastern Star Chapter 69 in Knoxville, Tenn., Mr.Earnhardt was a 32nd degree Mason
and a Shriner with the Knoxville Kerbela Temple. He was also a member of the Norris United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife,
Katherine Forest Earnhardt; son Ralph Jack Earnhardt; twin brother Ray L.
Earnhardt, Salisbury; and sister Marie Miller, Baltimore.
A memorial service was held
Wednesday at Norris United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Katherine Nance. Burial
was in Norris Memorial Gardens.

Burleyson, 81, 29415 Nelson Mountain Road, died Saturday (Nov. 6, 1999) at home.
Born Aug. 4, 1918 in Stanly
County, he was a son of the late Bertie Crowell Burleson and Luther Columbus Burleson. His
step-mother Nora Lee Lowder Burleson, who raised him from the age of six, is also
deceased.
Self-employed as a homebuilder,
Mr. Burleyson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the recipient of two Purple
Hearts, three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge and Victory
Medal.
He was a lifelong member of
Friendship United Methodist Church and a past Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby
Bell King Burleyson; son Rick Burleyson, Charlotte; sisters Lucille Hatley, Albemarle, and
Margaret Sasser, Melbourne, Fla.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday,
Friendship United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Harrell. Burial, church
cemetery with military rites conducted by the Albemarle-Stanly County Disabled American
Veterans.
Visitation: 6-8 tonight at
Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home.

daughter of the late Archibald Charles Nantz and Ada Susan Reece Nantz.
She was a homemaker.

Donaldson Jr., preceded her in death.

County, he was a son of the late Ada L. Tomlin Smith and James N. Smith.
He retired in 1991 from the Hall
of Justice in Winston-Salem.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War
II, Mr. Smith was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church of Cooleemee and the Born Again
Singers.
Survivors include his wife, Linda
A. Smith; sons Jimmy Smith, Statesville, and Michael Smith, Taylorsville; daughter Kim
Davis, Winston-Salem; step-son Jason Rock, Winston-Salem; step-daughter Ruth Shores,
Winston-Salem; and seven grandchildren.
