Two Die in Auto Crashes

A Rowan County woman and man were killed in separate vehicle accidents Thanksgiving Day, according to reports from the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Melissa Hall Yost, 26, was killed in a two-car accident on U.S. 52, about two miles south of Rockwell, that happened at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Yost, of 1060 Gold Knob Road, lost control of her vehicle while traveling north, crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle.

Reports indicated that two other people were injured in the wreck. Their names were unavailable this morning.

In a separate wreck about two hours later, Leonardo Hernandez, 28, died after his vehicle ran off Long Ferry Road and struck a tree. Hernandez, of 5870 Wildwood Road, No. 58, was traveling west on Long Ferry Road, about four miles east of Spencer, when the vehicle ran off the road around 7:45 p.m. Thursday.

Two other occupants in Hernandez's car were injured. Their names were also unavailable this morning.
