Rowan Gets New Scout Leaders

Scouting in Rowan County has two new leaders.

Wayne Dalton is Rowan’s new district director for the Central N.C. Council of Boy Scouts of America, and Marlon Henderson is Rowan’s new district executive.

Dalton is a native of Lexington and is the oldest of 10 siblings, including a twin. The son of Jessie Jones Dalton of Lexington, he is a 1975 graduate of Lexington Senior High School, a 1979 graduate of Lees-McRae Junior College and a 1981 graduate of Catawba College.

He and his wife, Amy, have three children. She is a special education teacher.

Dalton started his professional Scouting career in 1981 as an associate district executive in Norfolk, Va. He has also worked in Newport News, Va., and Charlotte. Dalton has raised over $3 million over his 17 years of professional Scouting.

Henderson, a native of Atlanta, is a graduate of Benjamin E. Mays High School and Johnson C. Smith University. An Eagle Scout, he has worked as a paraprofessional in the Mecklenburg County Council. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity and Sigma Xi, an undergraduate research honor society.
