Spencer Police officer Robert Clement is in critical condition at Wake Forest University
Baptist Medical Center this morning after a blood clot apparently lodged in his heart
Thursday as he recovered from recent surgery. Clement, injured on the job by gunfire as he searched for a
suspect in October 1997, had another round of surgery on Tuesday to improve Clements
ability to use his right leg.
Wife Lunda Clements said her
husband was in good spirits and feeling well after the surgery, but a blood clot
apparently broke loose and lodged in his heart. Lunda Clement and a family friend
couldnt wake up the officer Thursday morning, and Robert Clements heart
stopped after doctors were called in to check on his condition. They revived him and now
believe the clot is lodged in his lungs. |
