Kenneth H. DunlopA graveside
inurnment service will be held Wednesday for Kenneth H. Dunlop, 82, of Green Valley,
Ariz., a former resident of Salisbury, who died Sept. 25, 1999.
Born June 6, 1917, in Schuylkill, Pa., he was a
1939 graduate of Catawba College and served with the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War
ll in the China-Burma-India Theater. He operated Salisbury Business College from 1949 to
1959 and later served as administrative assistant to the late William S. Fishman, founder
of Aramark, Inc. in Philadelphia, Pa. before moving to Green Valley, Ariz. in 1994.
His wife, Thelma Smith Dunlop, preceded him in
death in 1955.
Survivors include sons George Dunlop, Arlington
Va., and Tom Dunlop, Reno, Nev.; sister Georgine Miller, Lancaster, Pa. and two
grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. graveside inurnment service
Wednesday, City Memorial Park.
Visitation: At the cemetery following the service.

Bobby Jay Crum
MOORESVILLE Bobby Jay Crum, 63, Eastridge
Lane, died Monday (Dec. 27, 1999) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 24, 1936, in Stirrat, W.Va., Mr. Crum
was a son of the late Ike and Annie Hall Crum. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he attended Old
Country Church, Terrell. He was a maintenance mechanic with Superba Print Works for 16
years.
Survivors include wife Oma M. Shrewsbury Crum; son
Randy Crum, Mooresville; sisters Mrs. Tom (Ruby)Lester and Lois Camper, both of Phelps,
Ky., and Patty Mullins, Pikeville, Ky.; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Old Country Church,
Terrell, conducted by the Rev. Woody Stacy. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Wilson Mack Erwin Jr.
The funeral will be Wednesday for Wilson Mack
Erwin Jr., 87, Yorktown, Va., a former Salisbury resident, who died Thursday (Dec. 23,
1999) at Riverside Hospital, Newport News, Va.
Born March 25, 1912, in Badin, Mr. Erwin was a son
of the late Wilson Mack and Flossie Hix Erwin. He was educated in the Badin schools. A
graduate of Catawba College, he was active with the Blue Masque and the tennis team.
A lieutenant colonel, he served in the U.S. Air
Force for 26 years. He later worked with the Virginia Division of Justice and Crime
Prevention for six years. He remained active in senior citizens groups.
Mr. Erwin had been in 25 Broadway plays, 10 motion
pictures, starring with actors such as Janet Gaynor, Robert Young and Lionel Barrymore. He
also drove Salisbury native Sidney Blackmer around when Blackmer was dating his wife,
Susan.
Survivors include sons Billy Erwin, with whom he
lived, and Bobby and Ricky Erwin, both of Honolulu, Hawaii; daughter Cindy Erwin, San
Francisco, Calif.; brothers Jim and Sam Erwin, both of Salisbury; sisters Florence Houck,
Mill Bridge, and Carol Shuping, Columbia; and two grandchildren.

Home Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Malcolm M. Bullock. Burial, Thyatira
Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Viola Stewart ONeil
GRANITE QUARRY The funeral will be
Wednesday for Viola Stewart ONeil, Granite Quarry, who died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999)
at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Born in Boston, Mass., Mrs. ONeil was a
daughter of the late McLeod C. and Josephine Hurley Stewart. She graduated from high
school in Massachusetts. A homemaker, she was a volunteer for Friendship House.
Her husband, David Allen ONeil, died in
1994, and a daughter,Kathleen S. Rainone, died in 1996.
Survivors include daughters Kerry A. Moore,
Hendersonville, and Robin Diane ONeil, San Ramon, Calif.; brothers Mac Stewart,
Hernando, Fla., and Bill Stewart, Fort Atkinson, Wisc.; four grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 1 p.m. Wednesday, National
Cemetery, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Marcus B. Hovis III.

William Guy Stoker
ALBEMARLE William Gythe Guy
Stoker, 84, 903 Honeysuckle Lane, died Monday (Dec. 27, 1999) at his home.
Born Oct. 5, 1915, in Albemarle, Mr. Stoker was a
son of the late John Adam and Pallie Chandler Stoker. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he
served during World War II. He retired from Wiscassett Mills as a yarn dye foreman.
Survivors include wife Lillie Mae Jones Stoker;
sons Joe Stoker, Albemarle, and L.G.Buddy Stoker, Gastonia; daughter Judy
Stoker Huneycutt, New London; brothers Edward Stoker, Albemarle, and Richard Stoker, New
London; sister Jewell Boger, New London; eight grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, North Albemarle
Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Wyman Bolin and Dr. Grady Taylor. Burial, Fairview
Memorial Park.
