Christmas fatality

BY SCOTT JENKINS
SALISBURY POST

ENOCHVILLE —
A 44-year-old man died Christmas night after being hit by a car on Enochville Avenue about two miles north of Kannapolis.

Perry Douglas Strider, 44, of 8925 Abby Lane, was hit while crossing Enochville Avenue near Campbell Road at about 8 p.m., according to an N.C. Highway Patrol report.

The site of the accident is near Strider’s home on Abby Lane.

Sedric Lamar Lipscomb, 28, of 5048 Bahama Drive, was driving south on Enochville Avenue in a 1995 Honda when he hit Strider, said Sgt. S.F. Small, with the highway patrol.

“That area of the road is not lighted,” Small said. “It is straight. There is nothing in the accident report to indicate why he was not seen.”

Small said Lipscomb and a passenger, Ricky Lipscomb, 25, were uninjured.

He said there was no indication that the driver had been drinking, and he was driving the speed limit in the 45-mile-per-hour zone.

No charges will be filed, he said.

The results of a toxicology test on Strider won’t be available for four to six weeks, he said.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Enochville Volunteer Fire Department with an upset member of Strider’s family, said Lt. Ron Terry with the sheriff’s department.
