Bertha BrillhartLEXINGTON
Bertha Augusta Boner Brillhart, 91, formerly of Lexington, died Monday (Dec. 6,
1999) at Davie Place Residential Care, Mocksville,.
Born July 14, 1908, in
Battlecreek, Mich., Mrs. Brillhart was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Walburn
Boner. Rretired from the Chrysler Corp., she was a member of Rolling Heights Baptist
Church.
Her husband, Charles Clifton
Brillhart, died March 17, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a son, Earnest Colen,
and a daughter, Juanita Minton.
Survivors include daughter
Jeanette Parsons, Trenton, Mich.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m.
Friday, Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Sechrest.

Rodney Cornelius
FARRELL, Pa. Rodney
Cornelius, 93, 207 Fruit Ave., died Sunday (Dec. 5, 1999) at the home of daughter Pauline
Cornelius in Wheatland.
Born March 6, 1906, in Catawba
County, N.C., Mr. Cornelius was a son of the late James and Hassie Beatty Cornelius. He
had retired in 1968 from Sharon Steel Corp., Farrell, where he had worked since 1929. He
was a member of Cedar Avenue Church of God, Sharon.
His wife, Ella Johnson Cornelius,
whom he married in 1942, died April 18, 1990.
Survivors include another daughter
Mrs. Clifton (Josephine)Bolling, Painesville, Ohio; sons Leroy Cornelius, Hermitage, and
Leroy Quarrells, Sharon; a nephew reared in the home, George Pickett, Farrell; sisters
Hazlean Brawley, Salisbury, N.C., Idella Miller, Concord, N.C., Vaggie Holt and Frances
Bailey, both of Landis, N.C., Viola McHenry, Philadelphia, and Rosa Scott and Jessie
Cornelius, both of New York; brothers John Bell Cornelius and the Rev. Frank Cornelius,
both of Salisbury, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: Noon Thursday, Cedar
Avenue Church of God, Sharon, conducted by the Rev. Angel L. De La Cruz. Burial, Oakwood
Cemetery, Hermitage.
Visitation: 11 a.m. Thursday at
the church. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Pauline Cornelius,
139 Mercer Ave., Wheatland.

Frank Kenneth Cox, 61, 245 Dove Meadow Drive, who died Monday (Dec. 6, 1999) at Wake
Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Born June 16, 1938, in Stanly
County, Mr. Cox was a son of the late Rudolph and Estelle Burris Cox. Educated in the
Stanly County schools, he had retired as owner/operator of Cox Electric Co., Salisbury.
Survivors include wife Mary
Catherine Sherrin Cox; sons Frank Kenneth Cox Jr. and Thomas Joseph Cox, both of
Salisbury; daughter Amy Vanwey, Salisbury, and Charity McClamrock,Woodleaf; brothers James
Cox, Denton, Ralph Cox and George Cox, both of Concord, and Lonnie Cox, Oklahoma City,
Okla.; sisters Pearl Helms, Charlotte, Judy Blackwelder, Salisbury, Daisy Walter, Concord,
and Joyce Helms and Mary Helms, both of Burnsville; and four grandchildren.

be Thursday for Ila Daniel McConnell, 93, 7100 Mooresville Road, formerly of Charlotte,
who died Monday (Dec. 6, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Sept. 16, 1906, in
Mecklenburg County, Mrs. McConnell was a daughter of the late Sylvanus Watts and Minna Lee
Torrence Daniel. She had retired in 1968 from Cannon Mills, Plant 1, sheet department. She
was a member of Coddle Creek ARPChurch, Mooresville.
Her husband, Felix R. McConnell,
died March 6, 1970, and a son, Felix R. McConnell Jr., died Oct. 19, 1968.
Survivors include daughter Doris
McConnell Roberts, of the home; brothers Mason Daniel, Greenville, S.C., and Howard
Daniel, Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren.

Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte.

Venture Court, died Tuesday (Dec. 7, 1999) at his home.
Born Dec. 20, 1914, in Slatington,
Pa., Mr. Paules was a son of the late Clarence S. and Anna Paules. Educated in the
Slatington schools, he had retired as a rural mail carrier in Slatington. He was a member
of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ in Slatington.
Survivors include wife LaRue
Frantz Paules; stepsons Donald D. Mack, with whom he made his home, and Robert M. Mack;
daughter Judith Oesterle; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two
step-great-grandchildren.

Watkins, 69, 210 Crowell Ave., died Monday (Dec. 6, 1999) at Mercy Hospital, Charlotte,
after a period of declining health.
Born Jan. 8, 1930, in Montgomery
County, Mrs. Watkins was a daughter of Ethel Mae Green Greene, Mount Gilead, and the late
Carl Ruben Greene. Educated in the Montgomery County schools, she had retired from
Wiscassett Mills.
She was a member of Saints Delight
Church and a former member of Mount Zion AMEZion Church in the Pee Dee community of Mount
Gilead.
A daughter, Brenda K. Pemberton,
preceded her in death.
Survivors, in addition to her
mother, include husband Matthew Watkins; sons Willie C. Greene and Dr. Roger L. Green,
both of Charlotte, Larry J. and Douglas E. Pemberton, both of Albemarle, and W. Dennis
Pemberton, Concord; daughters Carolyn S. Green and Ellen E. Pemberton, both of Albemarle,
and Patrice P. Isom, Kannapolis; brother Robert L. Greene, Albemarle; sisters Viola
McAulley, Bessie Ewing and Georgette Lilly, all of Mount Gilead, Blanch Rush, New London,
and Katie Ford, Albemarle; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. today, Saints
Delight Church, conducted by Dr. James E. Richardson, pastor, and a son, Dr. Roger L.
Green. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, Stanly Gardens of Memory.
