Otis Bailey

KANNAPOLIS —Otis Bailey, 84, 200 E. 31st St., died Wednesday (Dec. 1, 1999) at his home after a period of declining health.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Salisbury, is in charge.

 

Berniece Ford Banister

Berniece Ford Banister, Ellenwood, Ga., died Oct. 11, 1999.

She was the daughter of the late Marcus and Mattie Ford.

Survivors include husband Wylly E. “Buddy” Banister; daughters Patty A. Brown, Stockbridge, Ga., Emily B. Phillips, Ellenwood,Ga., and Julie B. Moon, Conyers, Ga.; brothers Jack Ford, Florida, Berry Allmon, Mount Pleasant, and Frances Deal, Salisbury; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Oct. 14 at Wards Fairview Chapel,Ellenwood,Ga. Burial was at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

 

Ellen Cole Cochran

KANNAPOLIS — Ellen Cole Cochran, 92, 2686 Sides Road, died Tuesday (Nov. 30, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Robert Kozora

STANFIELD — Robert Kozora, 68, 17045 Creekview Lane, father of Mrs. John (Janice) Palmer, Stanfield, died Tuesday (Nov. 30, 1999) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel, Albemarle, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Heiney.

Visitation: At the home of Mrs. John (Janice)Palmer, 17055Creekview Lane until 6 today and on Thursday except for the time of the service.

Memorials: American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1181, Albemarle,N.C. 28002.

 

James ‘Dee’ David Dry

KANNAPOLIS — James “Dee”David Dry, 55, 600 Cadillas St., died Sunday (Nov. 28, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born Sept. 6, 1944, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Dry was the son of the late Charlie Martin and Sara Stanback Dry. He retired after 35 years from Fieldcrest Cannon.

Survivors include wife Bernice Rucker Dry; daughters Deidra S. Drye and Alicia O. Drye, both of the home; sons Darion C. Drye, of the home, and Edward Dry, North Wilkesboro; sisters Mary Alice Stanback and Kay Frances Dry, both of Kannapolis; brothers Mack Dry, Aberdeen, Md., Mark Dry, Kannapolis, Kenneth Dry, San Diego, Calif., Leonard Dry, Charlotte, and Sherman Dry, China Grove; and three grandchildren.

Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, Clark Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Bishop J.C. Blackmon and the Rev. Wesley Harding. Burial, Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Fletcher H. Freeman

LEXINGTON — Fletcher H. Freeman, 82, 409-G Tussey Road, died Monday (Nov. 29, 1999) at High Point Regional Hospital.

Born May 22, 1917, in Robeson County, he was a son of the late Hector B. and Elizabeth Freeman. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a retired employee of Indiana Molding of Lexington.

Survivors include wife Eula Britt Freeman; sons Fletcher “Sonny” Freeman Jr., Lexington, and Kenneth Freeman, Lumberton; daughter Frankie Hoover, Lexington; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Timberlake Chapel of Piedmont Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Lang and the Rev. Wayne Knight. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Piedmont Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Tussey Road.

Memorials: Donor’s choice.

 

Fletcher Harvey Freeze

KANNAPOLIS — Fletcher Harvey Freeze, 84, 901 Venus St., died Tuesday (Nov. 30, 1999) at his home.

Born Feb. 9, 1915, in Rowan County, Mr. Freeze was a 1936 graduate of J.W. Cannon High School and a 1939 graduate of Wake Forest University. He owned and operated The Forty-Four Shop in Jackson Park from 1944 until he retired in 1990. In earlier years, he was a magistrate and justice of the peace. He also worked as a tax accountant for many years. He was a former member of Kannapolis Businessmen’s Club.

Survivors include wife Eloise Brooks Freeze; sons Lewis Freeze, Kannapolis, and Harvey Freeze, Mount Holly; daughter Mary Freeze Goodnight, Charlotte; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Norman Brisson. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Venus Street.

 

John K. Nall

The funeral will be held Thursday for Johnnie Kade Nall, 51, 110 Mink Drive, who died Monday (Nov. 29, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born July 1, 1948, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late John Cleveland Nall Jr. and Eulalia Conner Nall. A graduate of A.L. Brown High School, he was a carpet representative for Sherwin Williams in Charlotte, for 30 years. He was a member of Grace Christian Church, China Grove, and a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam.

Survivors include wife Connie Eller Nall; son Alan Lee Nall, Granite Quarry; sister Lori Nall Taylor, Landis; brother Darwin K. Nall, Charlotte; stepmothers Kathryn Spry, Landis, and Ethel Nall, Kannapolis; stepsons Scott Barnette, Charlotte, and Kevin Barnette, Seattle, Wash.; stepdaughters Wendy Barnette, Monroe, Dawn Mesimer, Woodleaf, and Kristy Ridenhour, Salisbury; and four grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. John Miller and the Rev. Garold Roseman. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Mink Drive.

Memorials: Grace Christian Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 454, China Grove, N.C. 28023.

 

Tony Lynn Weaver

The funeral will be Thursday for Tony Lynn Weaver, 32, Salisbury, who died Sunday (Nov. 28, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born March 19, 1967, in Rowan County, Mr. Weaver was a son of Geneva Panter Cooke, Salisbury, and the late Hubert E. Weaver. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a self-employed painter. He attended Salisbury Christian Fellowship.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include brothers Kent Weaver, Gastonia, Larry Weaver, Rockwell, Bradley Weaver, Granite Quarry, and Jamie Weaver, Salisbury; and sister Sheila Call, Salisbury.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Lyerly Funeral Home’s James C. Lyerly Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Don Best and the Rev. Lawrence Lee, Salisbury Christian Fellowship. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of mother Geneva Panter Cooke of Salisbury.
