So, who will have more fun the parents or the kids?
If you are going to
see Thomas the Tank Engine at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, it may
be hard to determine.
Until 5 p.m. today
and all day Sunday, devoted parents will be loading up their kids to see the little blue
engine with the big smile.
Thomas and his friend Sir Topham
Hatt will be meeting and greeting kids and making their way around the museums
tracks.
Friday, parents from all over the
state traveled to Spencer to see Thomas second, and last, appearance in North
Carolina this year.
Three-year-old Christopher
Krayniewski smiled for the camera in the hot afternoon sun so he could have a Polaroid of
his special day with Thomas.
Jacklyn Sink, and her mother
Debbie Blevins brought 3-year-old Tyler from Lexington to see Thomas.
Oh, he loves him (Thomas).
He has all of the videos, said Sink. Tyler is also a Junior Engineer at the museum.
He loves trains, his grandma said. Now lets go get in that long
line to ride, she added with a smile.
By the end of the day, kids may
think it is Christmas with the wide variety of souvenirs to take home. T-shirts, hats,
drums, games and even room decorations of Thomas and all his friends can be purchased on
site.
Parents arent the only ones
venturing to the museum for an afternoon of fun. Daycares and church groups filled the
area with dozens of children all dressed alike.
First Baptist Childrens
Learning Center in Denton had 13 2-year-olds on their field trip. One of the teachers made
them identical t-shirts so they could be easily identified. While parents exhaust
themselves pleading for a smile in front of the camera and kids continue to ask for things
mom and dad know they dont need, museum volunteer Jeff Bost said with a
smile, this isnt work, this is love. |
