Rowan Peace Officers begin fund-raising calls

SALISBURY POST

The Rowan County Peace Officers have started making phone calls for their annual fund-raiser.

For the next 10 weeks, the group will telephone Rowan County residents to solicit money.

Lt. Sara Potts of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said the money raised is used to provide a scholarship to a Rowan-Cabarrus Community College criminal justice student, maintain the firing range used by all Rowan County law enforcement, donate money to the battered women’s shelter, and sponsor a Little League team.

In addition, the officers will personally deliver food baskets the Sunday before Thanksgiving to needy families, the elderly and the less fortunate. Potts said the baskets can feed a family for a week.

To nominate a family or to make a donation to the Rowan County Peace Officers, call Monday through Friday, between 1 and 9 p.m. at 630-0021.
