HAGERSTOWN, Md. If Boll
Weevil Brad Baisleys no-hit pitching, performance was solid gold on Thursday night,
Fridays outing by the next man in the Piedmont rotation was sterling Silva.
Carlos Silva boosted his record to 10-7 with six
strong innings. He allowed only one earned run, as the Weevils thrashed Hagerstown 6-1 in
South Atlantic League baseball.
The Silva Fox craftily fanned three
and walked just one.
Randy Espina earned the save with three hitless
innings of relief.
Jeremy Salazar paced the Weevils offense
with three hits, while Alex Fajardo and Brian Bush had two hits each. Jerry Connell
knocked in two runs.
But this night belonged to Silva, who likely
received a Silva Star or at least a Silva certificate for his
award-winning effort.
Piedmont is 23-23 for the SALs second half
and 59-58 on the year.
Hagerstown is 23-24, 71-47.
The teams will play again tonight. Derrick Turnbow
will take his turn on the hill for the Weevils.
