Weevils drop fourth straight on road trip

SALISBURY POST

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Piedmont finished its road trip on the sourest of sour notes on Sunday night, losing 2-1 to the Charleston RiverDogs (23-19) and enduring a rain delay of two hours, 20 minutes.

It was Piedmont’s fourth straight loss on a road trip that ended with a disappointing 2-5 mark.

Piedmont (20-21) couldn’t hit enough to back the strong pitching of hard-luck hurler Carlos Silva, who fell to 9-7, despite allowing just six hits and one earned run in eight innings.

Uriel Casillas and Wil Polidor had two hits each for the Weevils.

Piedmont returns home tonight to take on Hickory.
