Blanche Sells Fesperman

Blanche Sells Fesperman, 94, 610 W. Fisher St., formerly of East Crawford Street, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 1999) at Brightmoor Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 22, 1905, in Rowan County, Mrs. Fesperman was a daughter of the late Lindsay and Maggie Mabrey Sells. A homemaker, she was a Baptist.

Her husband, Willie Henderson Fesperman, died May 29, 1969, and a son, David Lee Fesperman, died Sept. 5, 1990.

Survivors include son William H. Fesperman, Rockwell; sisters Mary S. Archie and Daisy S. Lefler, both of Salisbury; one grandchild; four step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Summersett Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bruce C. Sheeks, pastor, Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Revie Jordan Addison, 105

KANNAPOLIS — Revie Jordan Addison, 105, All Saints Catholic Home, Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Kannapolis and Mooresville, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 1999).

Lady’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Todd Thomas Kimball

Todd Thomas Kimball, 31, Salisbury, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 1999) at his home.

Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, is in charge.

 

Tina Louise Lambert Furr

ALBEMARLE — Tina Louise Lambert Furr, 96, 25888-A Millingport Road, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 1999) at her home.

Born July 20, 1903, in Stanly County, Mrs. Furr was a daughter of the late William M. and Sophronia Martha Ann Herrin Lambert. A retired homemaker, she was a member of Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Her husband, Millard Hubert Furr, died in October 1996, and a son, Dave Lincoln Furr, died in 1966.

Survivors include sons Vernon and Coy Furr, both of Albemarle, and Roy Furr, Locust; daughters Ola Mae Harkey, Concord, Betty Jean Furr, Pacolet, S.C., Lillian Dellinger, Fallston, Christine Drye, Stanfield, Ruby Furr, Annie Belle Almond and Irene Caldwell, all of Albemarle, and Brenda Walker, Conway, S.C.; 26 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 4 p.m. Tuesday, Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Richard Almond. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Mrs. J.P. (Irene) Caldwell, 25888 Millingport Road.

Howard McKinley Hayes

WINFALL — Howard McKinley “Tank” Hayes, 46, brother of Thelma Gillespie, Salisbury, died Monday (Aug. 2, 1999) at Brian Center Nursing Home, Hertford.

Funeral services were held 4 p.m. Saturday at Poplar Run AME Zion Church. The Rev. J.H. London Jr. and Presiding Elder G. Curtis Newby officiated. Burial was at Hobbs Cemetery.

Stallings Funeral Home, Hertford, was in charge.

 

Junious ‘Buddy’ Phelps Jr.

Junious Simeon “Buddy” Phelps Jr., 71, Salisbury, died Monday (Aug. 9, 1999) at his home.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Joe H. Ervin

KANNAPOLIS — Joe H. Ervin, 75, 2363 Trail Ave., died Sunday (Aug. 8, 1999) at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, after five days of serious illness.

Born Aug. 29, 1923, in Rowan County, Mr. Ervin was a son of the late Willie Lee and Scottie Hyde Ervin. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He had owned and operated Joe H. Ervin Grading Co. Inc., since 1960 and its subsidiaries, Survey Consultants P.A., Abbington Group Inc. and Ervin Materials, for many years.

Mr. Ervin had been a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church since 1952. He served two terms on the First Union National Bank board of directors and also served on the Enochville Fire Department board of directors.

Survivors include wife Gladys Sexton Ervin; son David Lee Ervin, Enochville community, China Grove; daughter Mrs. Harry L. (Beverly Jo Ervin) Barbee, Kannapolis; sisters Ruth Hampton, Raleigh, and Allie Beam, Kannapolis; and one grandchild.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Bethpage United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Randy Foster and the Rev. Grady Barringer. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6:30-9 tonight, Whitley’s Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Trail Avenue.

M. Milton Morgan

The funeral will be Tuesday for M. Milton Morgan, 76, Salisbury, who died Saturday (Aug. 7, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after three years of declining health and two months of serious illness.

Born Oct. 27, 1922, in Danville, Va., Mr. Morgan was a son of the late Latta S. and Beulah Albright Morgan. Educated in the Danville, Salisbury and Winston-Salem schools, he was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School, Winston-Salem.

Mr. Morgan was a bookkeeper for Carolina Tractor and Equipment Co. in Salisbury and Charlotte for 35 years prior to his 1986 retirement. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the European and Pacific theaters on the USS Swannee.

He was a member of Maranatha Bible Church and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was Sunday school superintendent and teacher, a deacon and a member of the Men’s Chorus and Gospel Quartet.

Survivors include wife Mary McCurdy “Pat” Morgan, whom he married Feb. 20, 1951; son M.M. “Skip” Morgan Jr., of the home; daughter Mrs. Gary W. (Libby M.) Dove, Blue Ridge, Va.; brother E. Hassell Morgan, Winston-Salem; sisters Mrs. C.E. (Phyllis) Dixson, Winston-Salem; and one grandson.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Summersett Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Carroll Robinson, pastor, Lebanon Lutheran Church, and a nephew, Dr. David F. Jarvis II, a United Methodist minister. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park. Military rites by Rowan Veterans Council.

Visitation: 7:30-9 tonight at the funeral home.
