GRANITE QUARRY —N.C. Department of Transportation crews are scheduled to begin repairs on the East Bank Street railroad crossing Nov. 10, a Monday.

East Bank Street will be closed in both directions between Salisbury Ave (U.S. 52) and Main Street and will remain closed until repairs are completed. The road is expected to reopen by 5 p.m. Dec. 5.

During the closure, motorists will use East Church Street, Lyerly Street or Depot Street as alternate routes to cross the railroad tracks. North Main Street will remain open; however, traffic will be limited to one lane with traffic controlled through flagged access.

Future closures will include crossings at Church Street, Lyerly Street and Depot Street with staggered schedules and updates made available as soon as work schedules are released.

NCDOT encourages motorists to pay attention, obey the posted speed limit and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
