EAST SPENCER — The town board will hold a public meeting for residents to discuss the town’s plans for development near exit 79 and along Andrews Street.

The meeting will be held today at town hall, 105 South Long St., from 3 to 5 p.m. The town will have maps, charts and other exhibits at the meeting. Members of the planning team will also be on hand to discuss any concerns or answer questions about the plans.

The key area of focus is creating an attractive gateway for development around and near the exit and Andrews Street. Andrews Street is the town’s major connecting road to the interstate.

The town, state office of Community Planning Assistance, Rowan County RowanWorks EDC and a consultant planner drafted the plans. It’s anticipated a plan of action will be prepared and presented in the winter or spring of 2015 after receiving input from the public and a report to the board.
