Police seek suspect in Thursday shooting

The Salisbury Police Department is looking for a man in connection with a shooting that occurred Thursday.

Demetri Barber, 19, of the 500 block of South Shaver Street, is wanted on a warrant for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Police department spokeswoman Capt. Shelia Lingle said the incident occurred after 9 p.m. om the 1000 block of South Fulton Street.

In a statement to police, the unnamed victim said he was at an apartment in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue. The victim said in his statement that he walked out of the apartment and down stairs and saw a black Ford Crown Victoria sitting at the corner of Ridge Avenue and Crosby Street.

The victim said he looked up at the car and was shot at. The victim then began running from the car, Lingle said. An occupant of the car then shot again at the victim, and the bullet struck him in the shin, Lingle said.

The victim flagged down a car, which transported him to the hospital.

Lingle said witnesses at the scene identified Barber as the shooter.
