The Chamber is welcoming Rowan County residents and political candidates for all positions to its forum on Oct. 26.

The forum will be at Ryan’s Family Steak House starting at 4 p.m. on Oct. 26. The Chamber’s forum will be the third after Catawba’s two forums earlier this month. The Chamber is a predominantly black community group in Salisbury.

An announcement email for the forum recommends attendees arrive earlier than 4 p.m. if he or she plans on ordering food.

Candidates that have confirmed their attendance are: Alma Adams, running for North Carolina’s 12th Congressional District as a democrat; Kay Norman, running for the school board’s fourth seat; Sandra Sims-Campbell, running for register of deeds as a democrat; Gene Miller, an unaffiliated candidate for county commissioner; Constance Johnson, a democratic candidate for the state senate’s 34th district, Rick Locklear, a democratic candidate for county commissioner; Kevin Auten, running for Rowan County sheriff as a republican and Greg Edds, a republican candidate for county commissioner.

An email announcement for the forum says: “This election is too important to sit out. There are some formidable challengers out there. The hostility is in the air. We must make every effort to attend and be informed of the candidates intention for the future of Rowan County. We most importantly must make everyone cognizant that this voting block participates.”

Chamber member Anthony Smith will moderate. Questions for the candidates should be submitted to thechambernc@gmail.com.
