Kannapolis school board to meet Monday

The Kannapolis City Board of Education will meet on Monday.

Kim Harn-Soryz, director of human resources, will discuss the district’s beginning teacher support program.

Noelle Scott, executive director of Cabarrus Arts Council, will talk about the students’ involvement in the arts and Cory Stirewalt will discuss A.L. Brown’s mentoring program with the district’s elementary schools.

The board will discuss a new policy on injury and loss prevention and review a policy on blood borne pathogens.

Joe Trull, president of the Kannapolis Education Foundation, will present a check to the school board.

The board will also recognize outstanding students, staff and volunteers at Kannapolis Intermediate School, including student Meredith Hall, student Isaac Jose Ramos, volunteer Equanda Moore, receptionist Leslie Williamson and teacher Kristen Logan.

Emily McDaniel, a teacher at Jackson Park Elementary School, will be recognized as the Hilbish Ford Teacher of the Month.

The board will meet on Monday at 4 p.m., for a closed session.  The open session will begin at 5 p.m.
