Authorities seized meth, marijuana, pills and more than $1,000 during a traffic stop in which a Salisbury pair were charged with trafficking and drug possession. A Rowan County Sheriff’s deputy stopped Emily Grace Vuncannon and Jason Tyler Gordon Oct. 8 on Faith Road for a burned-out head light.
The deputy also found what appeared to be a day planner with drug transactions written inside, a report said.
Vuncannon, 20, of the 100 block of Brookshire Drive, was charged with two counts felony trafficking drugs, one count felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance schedule II, one count felony possession of a controlled substance schedule I, one count felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance schedule VI, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance schedule III.
Gordon, 19, of the 100 block of Catfish Terrace, was charged with one count felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance schedule VI.
The deputy pulled the Buick over because the front head light was out, which the driver said she was aware of, a report said.
The officer noticed Gordon did not look him directly in the eye and asked for his ID, which he produced. The officer checked both Vuncannon and Gordon and discovered Gordon had an order for arrest/failure to appear from Stanly County. The officer returned to the car and arrested Gordon. He asked Vuncannon for permission to search her car and she consented.
A report said Vuncannon initially told the deputy there was nothing illegal in the car, but then admitted Gordon had “marijuana in a Bojangles box.”
She grabbed the box and handed over a small bag of marijuana. The officer searched the vehicle and found a plastic bag where Vuncannon had her license that contained 21 grams of marijuana. The bag also contained digital scales, needles, a spoon, 39 grams of methamphetamine, clear plastic bags, a small amount of heroin and nine Adderall pills.
A report said the deputy found $1,581 inside Vuncannon’s wallet.
Vuncannon remains in the county jail under a $250,500 secured bond. Gordon has since been released under a $5,000 secured bond. Vuncannon was convicted about a month ago for misdemeanor larceny. Gordon was convicted of simple assault, driving while under 21 consuming a controlled substance and possession of schedule VI.
