Bare, Yatawara fire 36s in league matches

In SPC golf at The Club at Irish Creek on Tuesday in chilly and west conditions, South Rowan’s Alexandria Bare shot 36 and shared medalist honors with Cox Mill’s Jaime Cassell.
In team scoring, Cox Mill led the way. The Chargers were followed by West Rowan (148), Carson (150), South Rowan (154), East Rowan (159), Hickory Ridge (170) and Concord (172).
Scorers for West Rowan were Kelly Boley (48), Savannah Lloyd (49) and Kristen Boley (51).
Scorers for Carson were Micah Furr (45), Adison Collins (50) and Hannah Cargill (55).
Scorers for South Rowan were Bare, Lea Morris (56) and Kolby Fisher (62).
Scorers for East Rowan were Kathryn Marcum (49), Grace Stokes (55) and Riley Padgett (55).
• Salisbury shot 123 and won the opening CCC match played at Winding Creek on Tuesday.
Grace Yatawara shot 36 to lead the Hornets. Isabella Rusher shot 39. Carolina Parrott shot 48. Shelby Holden shot 49.
Olivia Sharpe shot 47 for second-place West Davidson (143). Also competing were Lexington (180) and East Davidson (82).
The Rowan County Meet is scheduled for Wednesday at Dan Nicholas Park.
The jayvee race will be at 3 p.m.
The championship boys race is at 3:45 p.m. The championship girls race is at 4:15 p.m.

Carson lost 2-1 to Northwest Cabarrus in SPC soccer on Tuesday.
It was the first league loss for the Cougars. Raunel Vasquez scored the Carson goal.
• Cox Mill won 2-1 against Central Cabarrus in SPC soccer on Tuesday.
• Concord beat West Rowan 2-0 to stay in contention in the SPC race.
• Hickory Ridge won 7-1 against South Rowan in the SPC on Tuesday.
• Salisbury rolled 8-1 at East Rowan on Tuedsay.
Andrew Kalogeromitros got Salisbury on the board just 42 seconds into the match. Matt Washko, Michael Brown, and Ahmedin Salcinovic scored before halftime to provide the Hornets with a 4-1 cushion.
Landon Goodman scored in the second half, while Brown and Salcinovic scored for the second time. Goalkeeper Arturo Ramirez scored his first career goal on a free kick just outside the 18-yard yard box.
Goodman and Kalogeromitros had two assists each, while Bryan Fragoso, Christian Uribe, Washko and Jamie Henriquez had one.
Salisbury (9-4) is at Thomasville Wednesday for a jayvee/varsity doubleheader.
In East Rowan’s 3-2 volleyball win against North Rowan on Monday, Jordan McCall had 29 assists, six kills and five aces for the Mustangs.
Brittany Small had 20 kills and nice aces. Ashton Rogers had 11 kills and nine digs.
Salisbury defeated Lexington 9-0 in CCC tennis on Monday.
Salisbury singles and doubles winners were Kayla Honeycutt, Greave Steinman, Kathryn Rusher, Maria Capito, Emily Capito and Julia Honeycutt.
Breya Philpot had six kills and four aces as Salisbury’s jayvee team won 2-0 against North Rowan.
Dakotah Insley had four aces and four assists for the Hornets. Heavenly Robinson had two kills.
Salisbury Academy’s soccer team won 7-0 against Statesville Christian.
Mitch Jeter scored two goals. Nicholas Peltz, Joshua Portillo, Jeremiah Whitaker, Charlie Barr and Will Fowler scored a goal each.
Defensive standouts were Ellen Simmons, Katie Leckonby, and George Fisher.
The Corbin Hills Women’s Golf Association played a Criers (throw out one hole on each nine) tournament.
In the First Flight, Becky Isenhour won gross, while Mary Seaford won net.
In the Second Flight, Susan Wydner won gross, while Norman Burgess won low net.
In the Third Flight, Sheryl Johnson won low gross, while Betsey Edgeworth won low net.
Winner of low putts was Joan Havill, followed by Eileen Full.
The FCCA U11 Green Dragons soccer team (3-2-1) had a 4-4 draw and an 8-3 loss over the weekend.
Scoring for the Dragons were Ben Childress with four goals and Maddox Goodnight with three. Outstanding contributors were Oscar Enciso and Ben Sweet.
Livingstone lost to Fayetteville State in a CIAA matchup on Monday.
The Blue Bears fell 25-17, 25-18 and 25-17.
Lareecia Swiney had eight kills to lead Livingstone.
• Catawba swept atCoker on Tuesday for its first SAC win.
The Indians (3-6, 1-3) won 25-18, 25-23, 25-20.
Rachel Gallup had 13 kills.
The No. 1 team in the AP 4A poll this week is Mallard Creek. Mooresville is seventh. West Forsyth is eighth.
Southern Durham is No. 1 in 3A. Concord is ranked fifth. The Spiders host East Rowan on Friday.
In 2A, Southwest Onslow is No. 1.
In 1A, Wallace-Rose Hill remains No. 1.
