Wolford rallies Wake Forest over Army

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — John Wolford threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead score midway through the fourth quarter, and Wake Forest rallied to beat Army 24-21 on Saturday.
Wolford twice connected on third-down passes on the decisive drive before finding E.J. Scott over the middle for a 12-yard TD with 6:45 left to put Wake Forest (2-2) ahead to stay.
Isaiah Robinson recorded Wake Forest’s first touchdown of the season and the Demon Deacons shut out Army in the second half to beat the Black Knights for the eighth straight time.
Duke 47, Tulane 13
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Bryon Fields and fourth-string running back Joseph Ajeigbe each returned interceptions for touchdowns in Duke’s 47-13 rout of Tulane on Saturday.
Anthony Boone, Josh Snead, Thomas Sirk and Shaun Wilson each had short scoring runs. Jamison Crowder caught six passes for 119 yards for the Blue Devils.

N.C. State 42, Presbyterian 0
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Jacoby Brissett passed for 195 yards and three touchdowns to help North Carolina State blank Presbyterian 42-0 on Saturday night.
Matt Dayes ran for a 68-yard touchdown and had a touchdown catch for the Wolfpack, who moved to 4-0 for the first time since 2010.
The Wolfpack seized control with a pair of touchdowns late in the second quarter, and they scored on the first play of the second half on a 65-yard pass from Brissett to Bryan Underwood.
Southern Miss 21, App State 20
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Dasman McCullum blocked an extra-point attempt with 6 seconds remaining and Southern Miss beat Appalachian State 21-20 Saturday night.
ASU’s Taylor Lamb threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Simms McElfresh in the back corner of the end zone to get the Mountaineers within a point. But Zach Matics, who had a field goal blocked and missed two others, had his extra point attempt swatted away by McCullum, capping a frantic final 8 minutes.
Elon 20, Charlotte 13
ELON, N.C. (AP) — Mike Quinn and Kierre Brown connected for two touchdowns, including one late in the fourth quarter to lead Elon to a 20-13 victory over Charlotte on Saturday night.
Blake Brewer made his second field goal for Charlotte, a 43-yarder that tied it at 13 early in the fourth quarter. The Phoenix answered when Quinn threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Brown, capping a 12-play, 63-yard drive to give Elon the lead with 4:33 remaining.
Charlotte drove to Elon’s 37 before Matt Johnson threw his third interception with 1:06 to play to end the 49er threat.

Quinn was 43 of 59 for 331 yards. Brown had 13 catches for 81 yards. John Gallagher had field goals of 24 and 26 for Elon (1-2).

Johnson finished 19 of 40 for 235 yards, and threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Austin Duke in the first quarter for Charlotte (3-1).
