Rufty-Holmes Senior Center will host a Job Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at its facility located at 1120 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. Fifteen to 20 local companies will be on-site to talk with job seekers about opportunities for part-time, full-time and seasonal employment.
Coordinated by ResCare Workforce Services in affiliation with the Regional Workforce Development Board, there are no fees or charges involved to employers or candidates for employment. For the September Caring Connections, Comfort Keepers and Whitley’s Funeral Home will have Susan Domann and Cyndi Smart with Adult and Aging Services at the Cabarrus County Senior Services Department. They will discuss changes in senior services, how it can benefit seniors and programs available for seniors in all walks of life.

Food Lion is partnering with its customers to help solve hunger by launching specially marked Food Lion Feeds bagged apples for sale in its stores. The effort will help provide 1 million meals to feed families facing hunger in local communities across the grocer’s 10-state footprint.
With the sale of each bag through Oct. 7, or while supplies last, Food Lion will donate five meals to local food banks, in partnership with Feeding America. The bags will maintain an MVP Sale price of $2.99 throughout the campaign. Noah’s Playloft Preschool announces their participation in the U.S. Department of Agriculture funded Child and Adult Care Food Program. Meals will be available at no separate charge to enrolled participants.
Children who are recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or members of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Food Distribution on Indian Reservations households or are Head Start participants, are automatically eligible to receive free meal benefits.
Rose’s Sandwich Shoppe, 819 Jake Alexander Blvd. S., is open for business and will have its grand opening Saturday, Oct. 18. Owned and operated by Rosemary Beard with assistance from Donna Thomas and former Carousel owner Angie Allen, the lunch spot offers wraps, sandwiches, salads and desserts, as well as beer and wine in a cozy atmosphere. Fresh, local ingredients are emphasized, and gluten-free and vegan options are available. Hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. daily except Monday. The restaurant is located behind Wendy’s in the Magic Mart shopping center, the former site of a Subway restaurant.
The Chick-fil-A restaurant at Towne Creek Commons, 902 E. Innes St., will close temporarily starting Friday, Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. for restaurant renovations. The restaurant, tentatively scheduled to re-open in November, is undergoing the renovations to provide an enhanced customer experience for restaurant guests.
“It has been our pleasure to serve our loyal customers, and we look forward to undergoing renovations that will help us better serve them for years to come,” said Bo Hawkins, franchise operator of the Chick-fil-A at Towne Creek Commons.
The newly remodeled restaurant will feature updated dining area, new tile floor, new lighting, new ceiling, new condiment stations, and larger front counter.
