Thanks for supporting Knox
We have been students at Knox Middle School for the last two years, and we are happy to say that the “Invest in a Child” fundraiser has helped our school in more ways than one can imagine. Thank you to all students, teachers, and community members who have generously contributed to this fundraiser.
Donations, 100 percent of which remain at Knox, have helped pay for computers, mulch, books, graphing calculators, teacher appreciation, and athletic equipment, along with many other things. Our goal for this school year is to raise at least $10,000.
Knox has also received donated prizes from several companies, and I would like to thank all of them. I would also like to ask you for assistance in donating money to Knox. Even if it’s just a dollar, it can still make a big impact in a child’s life. If you can help, please send donations to Knox Middle School, 1625 W. Park Road, Salisbury NC 28144.
Knox Middle School has great teachers, lots of opportunities to get involved in clubs and sports, and an amazing STEM program. Knox Middle is the only middle school within the Salisbury city limits. We take pride in being part of the “#KnoxStrong” team! When we leave Knox at the end of this school year, we want to leave Knox a better place. Thank you again to all who support Knox!

Hiring a new city manager
Why does City Council need to hire a search firm to find a new city manager? People elected Woodson, Miller, Kennedy, Blackwell, Alexander to do their job of hiring a manager. Their job is to hire a new city manager. They are only responsible for one employee.
The council needs to draw up the contract, not the new city manager, so if that person decides to leave they won’t take the taxpayers’ hard to come by money. Mr. Paris was very smart. He put a snow job over on the City Council. You can’t blame him. The blame is on the City Council for not doing their job.
Don’t forget to vote at the next city election, November 2015.

In praise of Spencer goats
The goats are to be commended. They are doing such a good job in Spencer in such a short period of time. The kudzu is vanishing.
They are a joy to see their pretty colors and watch them graze. The younger ones are so cute.
Keep up the good work, Spencer officials! Good idea! Wouldn’t it be awesome if Spencer had their own goats and could just move them around town wherever cleanup is needed.
