Justin Allison will test at Kentucky Speedway on Tuesday in preparation for Friday’s ZLOOP 150 ARCA race at Kentucky Speedway.
Former Catawba QB Danny O’Brien is with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League. He’s 3-for-5 passing for 41 yards.
In the Statesville Invitational at McAnderson Park, East Rowan’s Conor Honeycutt placed second in 16:29 and led the Mustangs to a sixth-place finish.
Kellen Corson finished 10th in 17:12 and led A.L. Brown to third place behind Lake Norman and North Lincoln. Davie’s Nick Simmons placed ninth in 17:08.
West Rowan placed eighth. Cade Harrill ran 18:06 to pace the Falcons.
• In the girls race, Lake Norman won, with Northwest Cabarrus second. A.L. Brown took fifth, with Carson sixth, Davie eighth, East Rowan 11th, and West Rowan 13th.
A.L. Brown’s Kelsie Simpson was 11th in 21:10.
West Rowan’s Josie Heglar was 17th in 21:52. Carson’s Jesse Nichols was 24th in 22:17. East Rowan’s Faith Faller was 28th in 22:26.
Cox Mill basketball standout Matt Morgan has committed to Cornell.

Livingstone was swept by Virginia Union on Saturday for its first loss. Lareecia Swiney led the Blue Bears with eight kills and six digs.
Catawba’s 14th-ranked women rolled 5-0 against Anderson in a SAC opener, with Becky Frost scoring twice. Mary kirkman, Alex Hulsey and Karen Presnell (Salisbury) scored a goal each. Kiersten Peck had three assists.
• Catawba’s men (1-3) lost 2-0 to Anderson on Saturday.
Catawba’s women’s team opens the season on Monday in the Full Moon BBQ Invitational in Alabama.
Sacred Heart’s jayvees beat North Hills 5-0.
Joseph Levy scored two goals. Will Koontz, Colin Donaldson and Ben Childress had one apiece.
• Sacred Heart’s jayvee girls volleyball team swept Statesville Christian for their first victory.
• Sacred Heart’s varsity soccer team won 5-1 against North Hills. Luke Holland scored twice. Cameron Pierson, Juan Salazar and Patrick Taylor had a goal each.
• Sacred Heart varsity soccer also won 8-0 against Statesville Christian.
Holland scored four goals. Scoring a goal each were Salazar, Spencer Blackwell and Jack Fisher (1). Reilly Ploplis had the shutout in goal.
Salisbury Academy’s jayvee soccer team defeated St John’s 4-0.
Wade Robins scored three goals, while Christopher Portillo had one. Keeper Jack Heilig made one save for the shutout.

Erwin defeated Southeast in girls tennis.
Winners in singles and doubles for the Eagles were Lauren Weisensel, Kristen Brady, Riane Richardson, Sage Fann, Victoria Plyler and Jordan Loflin.
West Rowan’s margin of victory in a Sept. 5 game against Salisbury was 37 points. The score was 44-7.
