KANNAPOLIS – After an intensive process, Kannapolis Police Chief Woody Chavis announces the promotion of three officers in the department. Andrew Deal has been promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Officer Christopher Fisher and Investigator Christopher Hill have both been promoted to sergeant positions.
Deal joined the Kannapolis Police Department in 2002. After working as a patrol officer he served as the school resource officer at A.L. Brown High School. In 2011 he was promoted to sergeant. Deal is a field training officer, a member of the Special Response Team and a member of the Honor Guard.
A graduate of South Rowan High School, he has a B.A. degree in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He received his Advanced Law Enforcement Certification from the N.C. Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission and has more than 3,200 hours of professional training.
He is the son of Larry and Diane Deal of Salisbury. He and his wife, Carrie, have three children.
Fisher joined the department as a patrol officer in 2006. A graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School, he has received his Intermediate Law Enforcement Certification from the N.C. Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission. While completing his basic law enforcement training, he received the Outstanding Student Award. He has also received an Individual Police Commendation. He has completed more than 2,300 hours of professional training and is a field training officer, a member of the Special Response Team and the Honor Guard.
In 2013 he was selected as the Rowan Optimist Club’s Officer of the Year.
Hill joined the department in 2009 as a patrol officer. He is serving in the Criminal Investigations Division as a felony investigator. He has received the Intermediate Law Enforcement Certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission. He has more than 1,900 hours of professional training and is a field training officer.
Earlier this year he received the Roger Dale Carter Memorial Service Award as well as a Unit Commendation for his service to Kannapolis.
A native of New York, he has an associate of applied science degree in criminal justice and a bachelor of technology degree in criminal justice from State University of New York. He is the son of Roger and Deborah Hill of Hermon, N.Y.
