During the annual Multi-Media EXPO Aug. 20-22, the Civic Center was home to 222 pieces of artwork from 47 artists. The show was made up of paintings, drawings and photographs.
Amateur and professional artists exhibited in watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, ink and pencil, presenting the viewer with a wide variety of media as well as an even wider variety of subjects from modern to traditional.
Judges this year were Sacred Heart art teacher Leslie Hudson-Tolles, Bruce Wilson of Fine Frame Gallery and Jason Williams of Snapshots Photographic.
The show is held annually and is open to any artist or photographer over the age of 18.
The Carolina Artists was formed in 1990 by working artists to provide opportunities for local artists to be recognized within the central Carolina community. The group meets monthly. Find more information and pictures at www.thecarolinaartists.org
With the help of the Civic Center (Parks and Recreation) staff, the Carolina Artists sponsor two large shows each year, the Student Art Show in March for students in grades K-12 and the Carolina Artists EXPO for adults over the age of 18.

Visitors to the EXPO had the opportunity to vote for their favorite entry, a distinction separate from judged winning. The Visitors’ Favorite, after votes were tallied, was Marshall Stokes’ entry “Sunday Afternoon on East Innes Street.”
