On Saturday from 1-3 p.m., Literary Bookpost & Just the Thing will have Anne Clinard Barnhill to sign her book “Queen Anne’s Daughter – A Novel of Elizabeth I.”
Barnhill, the author of “At the Mercy of the Queen,” writes of Mary Shelton, Elizabeth I’s young cousin and ward, set against the backdrop of the Elizabethan court. The British queen loves Mary like a daughter, and, like any good mother, she wants her to make a powerful match. Mary falls in love with the wrong man, a widower with five children. Worst of all, he’s a Catholic at a time when Catholic plots against Elizabeth are rampant in England.
Their struggles to escape the queen’s wrath make the story.
Barnhill holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
