N.C. Highway Patrol officials have charged a Mount Holly man following a Wednesday three-vehicle collision that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital.
Jamie Starks was traveling east on Mooresville Road and was making a left-hand turn into Lazy 5 Ranch.
The motorcylist, identified as Michael Kluttz, 24, of Salisbury, was traveling west on Mooresville Road, when his bike clipped the rear of the pickup.
A Chevrolet Impala driven by Megan Goldman of Matthews was making the same left-hand turn behind Starks’ F-150 truck when the motorcycle hit her vehicle in the front.
Trooper R.P. Charubini charged Starks with unsafe movement.
Kluttz was taken by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast where he remains in fair condition, hospital officials said late Thursday night.
He was wearing a helmet, but was thrown from the motorcycle, highway patrol officials said at the scene.
The crash occurred just in front of the entrance to Lazy 5 Ranch. Witnesses said it appeared the motorcyclist was speeding before the crash as he crested a hill.
Charubini said “at the time of the accident, the motorcyclist was not speeding.”
