Pfeiffer announces Events Plus series schedule

MISENHEIMER — Pfeiffer University has released its schedule for the 2014-2015 Events Plus subscriber series to take place on four Sunday evenings at Pfeiffer’s Misenheimer campus, 48430 U.S. 52 N.
For more than a decade, Events Plus has brought a variety of enrichment and entertainment opportunities to the community that feature Pfeiffer’s cultural resources. Performers range from students and alumni to nationally recognized talent in choral, instrumental, visual and performing arts.
The 2014-2015 Events Plus calendar includes:
• Sept. 6, 6 p.m.
Dr. Luke Dollar, professor of biology, Pfeiffer University, and National Geographic Explorer
Dollar coordinates conservation, research and development programs throughout Madagascar. Program director of National Geographic’s Big Cat Initiative, an international conservation program that protects lions, cheetahs, tigers and snow leopards, Dollar is known globally for his viral video that features a jaguar taking down a crocodile in Brazil.
• Nov. 16, 6 p.m.
A Conversation with Webb Hubbell, author, lecturer and advocate
Known widely for his distinguished career in public service as U.S. associate attorney general, chief justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court and mayor of Little Rock, Ark., Webster “Webb” Hubbell, now a Charlotte resident, is the author of the recently released legal thriller, “When Men Betray” as well as “Friends in High Places,” a memoir that highlights his professional relationship with Bill and Hillary Clinton and work at the White House. His television appearances include profiles on “60 Minutes” and “Dateline,” and with talk show host Larry King.
• Feb. 22, 6 p.m.
The Brain Trust: A Pfeiffer Musical Variety Show
The Brain Trust, a bluegrass and jazz ensemble composed of Pfeiffer faculty and staff members, returns to Events Plus by popular demand. Expect a foot-stomping and hand-clapping evening of fun and entertainment.
• April 19, 6 p.m.
Mick Mixon, voice of the Carolina Panthers
Named North Carolina Sportscaster of the Year in 1999, 2004 and 2009, Mick Mixon spent 16 years perfecting his skill as color analyst and production manager for the Tar Heels Sports Network before joining the Carolina Panthers in 2005 as play-by-play announcer.
A man of many talents, he also plays drums for two working bands, Franklin Street and Mick & the Ultras.
