Spencer — On July 26, Whosoever Will Let Them Come Ministries (WWLTC) hosted their annual Friends and Family Day. This year’s theme was “The Great Church Gathering.” Bishop Chris Brown stated that God had given him a vision to bring The Church together, not the churches, and this affair did just that.
This is the fifth year for this WWLTC event. Several churches from surrounding areas participated in the gathering including Woodleaf Baptist Church (Woodleaf), New Hope Missionary Baptist Church (Hamlet), Root of David Church of Deliverance (Lexington), Word in Season Ministry, The Church of the Word of God (Spencer), Ecclesiastes Deliverance Center (Winston-Salem), High Point Church of the Living God (High Point), Crown In Glory Lutheran Church (Salisbury), Mt. Calvary Holy Church (Salisbury), Petra House Outreach Ministry (Concord), Solely For Christ Ministries (Winston-Salem) and God’s Grace International Deliverance Temple (Lexington).
There was lots food, fellowship and fun for all. The goal was to reach out to the body of the church and the community at large both physically and spiritually. There was singing, praise dancing, gospel miming and praying as God’s people united.
There were T-shirts for the event with each church’s name on the front, and the scripture “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1) The back of each T-shirt displayed the silhouette of a body with the name of each church and Christ’s name on the head of the Body. Bishop Chris and Pastor Patricia Brown wanted to reinforce what the Bible states: “We are many members . . . one body” (I Corinthians 12:20).
This was a joint venture, and everyone played a role in its success. There were approximately 370 people in attendance. This was not about color, church denomination or anything else that sometimes separates people. This event was truly about togetherness and outreach. WWLTC personally thanks everyone who played a role in the success of this Holy event, from the churches to the sponsors who donated.
