A Rowan County man died in a two-vehicle crash early this morning on Organ Church Road, N.C. Highway Patrol officials said.
Road conditions appear to be the cause of the crash that occurred around 6:30 a.m. Names and some details were not immediately available.
The man, who is believed to be in his late 20s, was traveling north on Organ Church Road in a red Saturn when he rounded a left-hand curve going at a speed too fast for conditions, according to First Sgt. E.T. Suttles.
The vehicle hydroplaned and slid into the path of a Ford F-150 traveling south on Organ Church Road.
The Saturn did not overturn, but was struck on the passenger’s side by the pickup. The driver, whose name was not available, died instantly, Suttles said.
He was not ejected from the vehicle, but was not wearing a seatbelt.
The name of the pickup driver was also not available. He was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, Suttles said.
