Authorities charged two Rockwell men following a Friday traffic stop where officials confiscated 6 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
On Friday, members of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office A.C.E. Team conducted a traffic stop on a blue Ford Ranger pickup in the 300 block of Pop Stirewalt Road.
Driver Matthew Walter Robertson, 28, and passenger Brandon Keith Moody, 32, immediately got out of the vehicle in an effort to distance themselves from it, a report said.
Officers struggled with the two briefly and were then able to handcuff them. Authorities searched the pickup and discovered the crystal meth, plastic bags, digital scales, 1 gram of heroin, used syringes, and $83 in cash.
Robertson, of the 1800 block of Cannon Street Extension, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of heroin, simple possession of a schedule IV substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked.
Robertson was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond and has since been released. His first appearance was Monday.
Moody, of the 2500 block of Lower Palmer Road, was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $500 secured bond and has since been released. Moody is expected in court Aug. 25 for a first appearance.
In January, Moody was convicted of possession/distribution of a meth precursor. He is currently on probation. In 2008, Moody was convicted of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s also been convicted of speeding to elude arrest, assault on a female and resist, obstruct, delay an officer, all misdemeanors.
Robertson was convicted in June 2011 of possession with intent to sell schedule I, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor larceny, misdemeanor driving while license revoked and misdemeanor possession of schedule III. He’s also been convicted in 2009 of misdemeanor larceny, worthless check and shoplifting. Robertson was also convicted of other larceny offenses, felony breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods.
