County government phones to be down briefly

SALISBURY — Phones in county offices will be down briefly Wednesday as Rowan government switches phone service from Windstream to Spirit Communications.
• From 6-8 a.m., all phone extensions from 8500 to 8999 will lose service and dial tone.
• From noon to 12:30 or soon thereafter, extensions 7700-7999 and 8100-8499 will lose service and dial tone.
County government phone numbers typically start with 216, followed by the extension number.
The county will also be moving some phone equipment in the network Wednesday, which will disrupt service.
Rob Robinson, head of the county’s 911 operations, sent a memo to county employees about the down time last week and asked them not to report phone outages during that time “as we are aware and working to restore service as quickly as possible.”
